Hey guys. Alright, here's the deal. I'm currently looking for a new game to play. I have played Ultima Online since '99. I went through all the changes, the expansions, and to be honest I'm frustrated and sick of them all. I've also played my share of Asheron's Call, Everquest, DAoC, and Horizons. In all of these games I just haven't found anything that grabs me and interests me like the early days of UO. I'm a big fan of NWN and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. I've thought about buying the D&D Online, I've just heard that it's not big on solo gameplay. What, if anything, out now has a good solo side with a smattering of grouping avalable? I'd prefer a fantasy setting, something with nice graphics, and a decent solo aspect where grinding out levels is not the main objective of the game. PvP doesn't really matter to me as I don't do it much, so If it was non-existant it wouldn't hurt my feelings. I know it sounds a little picky, but when you've been through as many games as I have you have a better idea of what you're looking for. Is there anything out there now that might resemble what I have described? Please help, oh wise ones of MMORPGS!!!

Uh, stay away from WOW. There's no guarentee you can even find a stable server to play on, and there is no compensation if you don't.
That, and once you blow through to 60 in a month on your own, there's nothing left for you but raiding.
But hey, it's your nickel.
Dude, he played UO. Suggesting WoW is an insult.
I would suggest EVE here, but the OP seems to like Medieval MMOs. If he can get past the SciFi he might like it.
A Work in Progress.

I posted this same message for another person that asked..
DAoC would be good to try out, between 3 factions to play from, I think there is
a total of 44 professions. You got 4 different server styles to try from, pvp,
cooperative, normal and classic servers.
Go to the DAoC forum section and you can see alot of questions about why people
should at least try this game. First and foremost $19.99 for the EPIC Edition at any
Wal-Mart store or specialty shop. And I think they still got thier 14 day Trial out,
however, the trial has the catacombs engine in it, but, believe me, the EPIC edition
has more Graphic Updates with its Darkness Rising Expansion.
Its is a Fantasy game. Its got also a learning curve to it as well. If you decide to
try it out, make sure you look for the UI (User Interface) Mod.

EXCELLENT Mod Update for this game with Colorful maps and cleaned up Interface.

to op: sounds like WoW will be a good match for you, but it is very diffrent from UO. you also might Like Lineage 2 but its a very heavy grind and is based on lvl's.

Yes.
Stay away from WoW if you're not into the grind. That is all there is, and once you're finished grinding there's nothing to do but try to get loot.
DDO has almost no solo play. The entire game is focused around groups doing instances, and soloers will have a very hard time making the most of the game.
Eve does have the sandbox freedom of UO, but that is about the only similarity. The whole thing is in space, and you never leave your ship. Also it is entirely possibly the tutorial (which is very necessary for beginers) will melt your brain due to its length.
The only thing I can think of that resembles old school UO is...old school Ultima Online.
When people will pay others to play a game for them it might be a sign the game isn't all that fun.
you played UO since 99...you have no idea what u missed before that , trust me when it reached 99 the game had de-evolved

What a great idea! LETS SUGGEST A UO LOVER FUCKING WOW! Please, quit life, drink bleach.
