Open beta players of Ubisoft's The Division are reporting that it seems that weapon data is being stored client-side rather than server-side. YouTube videos and Reddit posts have revealed the hacking issues.

You seem a little insecure about your ps4.
modded controls with built in hacks, 100% undetectable
that affects pc too, but yeah his comment is not any less dumb that the pc elitists ones.
Are developers totally stupid? Why in gods name would you put such important files client side? Do they honestly think they're going to beat the hackers this way? Just like every other game, they'll micro patch everyday and within minutes the hacks will be fixed.
"The dev team has fixed nearly all of the PC cheats discovered during the closed beta, and any outstanding PC cheating issues will be fixed in time for launch on March 8. The developers will also closely monitor the open beta for any new issues, and address them accordingly. "
What are they going to say? 'Ummm, we made it easy for hackers to hack our game due to poor design and now that everyone knows it we'll deny our game is hackable and tell everyone we're miracle coders.'
Ubishit strikes again. I'll watch this faceplant of a launch and pick it up for half price in a month.
ANY competent developer knows you can't store that crap client side, this is nothing more than lame money laundering.
We all realize you can't have 100% server side, the game would never run,but we also know that cheating has been the number 1 game ruining flaw devs have NOT addressed and this is simply supporting cheating.
Cheating has been a problem since the first aimbots showed up in Quake 25+ years ago. That is a long long time for developers to remain slack and incompetent on addressing the problem. It is also the number 1 and really the ONLY reason i quit playing and quit supporting the COD franchise.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
In computer terminology, a honeypot is a trap set to detect, deflect or in some manner counteract attempts at unauthorized use of information systems.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
Unfortunately, this information stored on a PS4 can be edited on the way out through a proxy. Not the same hacks as PC, but there will be plenty surfacing if it is all stored on the users device.
You are right about PSN. That is what started the whole hackers hate on Sony is because if you mod or cheat on your system and get caught on PSN you get banned. Now you can do whatever you want to your system as long as you don't play on PSN.
"You think this "A" stands for France?" Captain America
It's no different on XBOX. You get banned from XBOX Live there as well.
Sure, the latest gen consoles are more vulnerable to hacks, but the advantage they have is that the console account can be banned from the game. Spamming console accounts for cheating purposes is tedious and expensive.
lol that was good.
