This is old news they already said its not gonna work like that once the game releases and that they are actively tracking players who are abusing this.

Well, regardless of the issues, I am having a ton of fun with the game. Got it with the Humble Bundle a couple of weeks ago, really glad I decided to purchase.

    I gotta ask.

Are developers totally stupid? Why in gods name would you put such important files client side? Do they honestly think they're going to beat the hackers this way? Just like every other game, they'll micro patch everyday and within minutes the hacks will be fixed.

"The dev team has fixed nearly all of the PC cheats discovered during the closed beta, and any outstanding PC cheating issues will be fixed in time for launch on March 8. The developers will also closely monitor the open beta for any new issues, and address them accordingly. "

What are they going to say? 'Ummm, we made it easy for hackers to hack our game due to poor design and now that everyone knows it we'll deny our game is hackable and tell everyone we're miracle coders.'

Ubishit strikes again. I'll watch this faceplant of a launch and pick it up for half price in a month.

Oh my lord, this such ridiculous news.

ANY competent developer knows you can't store that crap client side, this is nothing more than lame money laundering.

We all realize you can't have 100% server side, the game would never run,but we also know that cheating has been the number 1 game ruining flaw devs have NOT addressed and this is simply supporting cheating.

Cheating has been a problem since the first aimbots showed up in Quake 25+ years ago. That is a long long time for developers to remain slack and incompetent on addressing the problem. It is also the number 1 and really the ONLY reason i quit playing and quit supporting the COD franchise.

Rockstar haven't learned this either. They screwed it with Max Payne 3 on PC, and they screwed it again with GTA5 online on PC. Ubisoft arent the only ones doing it wrong when it comes to cheaters/hacks lately.

It could also be a form of honey pot traps. Traps often don't work unless there is bait.

In computer terminology, a honeypot is a trap set to detect, deflect or in some manner counteract attempts at unauthorized use of information systems.

Honeypot traps??? Make a multi million dollar game to catch few kids hacking??? Bad coding, thats all there is to it. Client side status files. What is next, status files in .txt format?

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

Unfortunately, this information stored on a PS4 can be edited on the way out through a proxy. Not the same hacks as PC, but there will be plenty surfacing if it is all stored on the users device.

The only thing moving client side files stop is normal people using hex editors and the like. Even if the files are server side, there are 1001 ways to hack it. The only difference is that now the people who don't know how to do it will buy it from someone who does, and they'll most likely be banned on day one, because server side active hacks usually separate the careless from the cautious.

I hate to bust some bubbles, but consoles are just as vulnerable. It's the exact same architecture. I believe the only difference is the risk, for if you get caught on PS4 ( correct me if i'm wrong ) your system gets locked, or banned from PSN or something to that extent.

You are right about PSN. That is what started the whole hackers hate on Sony is because if you mod or cheat on your system and get caught on PSN you get banned. Now you can do whatever you want to your system as long as you don't play on PSN.

It shouldn't have happened AT ALL! 'Won't be like this at release' is no excuse. This isn't a bug or unfinished content. It is pure incompetence.

It's no different on XBOX. You get banned from XBOX Live there as well.

This is why I'm considering shifting to console for my PVP games.

Sure, the latest gen consoles are more vulnerable to hacks, but the advantage they have is that the console account can be banned from the game. Spamming console accounts for cheating purposes is tedious and expensive.

The beta will have been testing graphics, bandwidth, gameplay etc. And maybe it was incompetence but maybe they just didn't want to reveal the final security design that will be in place - thereby making sure that hackers don't get a "head start".
