Koukos2004 excellent information there. I think the way the crafting ,quest and information gathering coupled with housing looks really good. I also think it is sandbox like and very exciting and the world is sounding so good. I want to play if I can stay away from PvP. I will see how the game goes and what people say in the weeks to come about PvP.
The comment about how a 40 year old can have problems with their hands my cousin has arthritis at 30 + and she suffers. I have since young been doing all sort of crafts with my hands and they are a little worse for wear than hands my age should be but you know it is very unfair to comment about other people's infirmities and comparing them to athletes. Some people are blessed with agility and others have problems. Age does not ensure your health and how you work and any form of constant repetitive tasks can weaken your joints. You will never understand until you are stricken with it what an agony it is to be suffering joint ache and cold causes even more pain. I am glad you think its funny these threads as it only means you are too young to know what it is like to not be able to even get up in the morning because your knees are so painful. Have mercy and pray this never happens to you.
Thanks everyone for this thread and the information that is shared here.
unfortunately many people cant realize how much their body/eyes/ etc change after 40.....i know im shocked with how my hands respond now....my left hand has been hurting from one hit almost a year now....which is something that would pass in a couple of weeks if i was 20....:)
You CAN move some (but not all) of those to a hotbar button. Problem is, anything cast from your hotbar does less damage and cost more mana than doing it the other way.
This is where a multi-button gaming mouse really helps since I can create a macro for blizzard for example, and assign it to one of my buttons. Doing it this way incurs no hotbar penalty.
I did not realize there is a hotbar penalty. That is quite interesting. I had some skills on the hotbar but didn't use them often. They were mostly just the long cooldown skills. Combat was paced enough that the hotbar wasn't the best way for me to play.
Yeah took me a while to find that out too. The tooltip for the ability itself mentions the penalty toward the bottom of the description. Some abilities don't have a keybind and must be used from the hotbar. Those don't have a penalty.
I noticed some abilities didn't have built-in keyboard shortcuts. Those were also the the long cooldown skills I was talking about. I think one was an escape skill for me.
I think their interface does make it harder to learn and mentally sort and tally your skills. The keyboard method, the hotbar method, and those skills that don't have k/b inputs makes it a little confusing. I'm not sure how they could improve that, but overall their UI experience is a little rough.
Not to mention that if you have a hotbar slot open and you learn a new ability, it just plunks it into the first available hotbar slot regardless of whether it's a good idea to use it from there.
The game definitely has some warts with the UI, what they explain and what they don't, cheap voice acting, NPCs saying something while the text reads something totally different and unrelated, etc. It's not perfect by any means.
OTOH, it performed really well for me with great FPS at max settings, no crashes of any sort, no visual glitches at all other than NPCs occasionally being black silhouettes in crowded areas momentarily before being rendered.
And as I got to higher level areas I didn't get the feeling I often get in new MMOs that the polish hadn't quite gotten to that area yet. Which I guess is as it should be since this is the third launch.

Texture loading:
I was impressed that having 50-60 people around me at the same time, didn't seem to affect my frames.
I'm looking forward to running the release client as you're never really sure what kinds of extra's they have running during the beta.
