It appears that dead isn't always dead with the revival of Hellgate on mobile devices. Now known as Hellgate: London FPS, the game quietly released on Google Play last week with no fanfare whatsoever. Hanbitsoft, most recent owner of the PC online version, closed the game not long ago only to bring it back for portable demon slaying.

I missed the old Hellgate: London... it was a game with graphics too advanced for its time...

This app,,, looks boring. You just stand there while enemies are on top of you attacking you and you shoot at point blank range? Meh.

I still have the old box with the single player client.

It's still fun to replay if you don't mind the graphics.

It's really too bad the Hellgate Revival never took off.

I too have the original and play it occasionally when I'm feeling nostalgic.

The current Hellgate is nothing more than a crappy Korean PTW model.
I'm glad I ditched it after beta.

Fun game ruined by Flagship / Bill Roper's incompetent management. This incarnation looks like crap though.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Mobile devices are already stronger last gen consoles and coming close to current gen consoles. It's said that next gen mobile devices (later this year) will beat current gen consoles in performance on all fronts. Add to that the pretty much free distribution platforms and extremely high revenue from cash shops and there's no need to port it to any of the consoles...

As someone who remembers how awesome the original Hellgate COULD of been if not for extremely poor management and really bad marketing, it hurts me to view this. Way to drag Hellgate through the dirt a bit more Hanbitsoft.

    LOL no.

Current phones are not even close and upcoming phones with a Snapdragon 820 could maybe come close to an Xbox 360 except that battery life and cooling for phones are pathetic.

If you did have a phone game that matched a 360 and ran it on a Galaxy S7 the GPU would melt in 5 minutes, even with its distributed liquid cooling.

It's because phones have a TDP of around 3 Watts whereas home consoles have a TDP of over 100 Watts.
