One of the so called negatives I keep hearing is grinding. I actually love grinding in games. That said I absolutely hated it in BDO.

No love or hate for the game,it is simply same old new skin, not interested.Games like this are churning out like they come off of an assembly line.
Now to give it at least some credit, they did the "looks" graphics some good, better than most trashy Indie games i see popping up every day.

The grind in the mid to late 50s is beyond brutal - 100s and 100s of hours of grinding the same group of mobs.

I got to ask... to what end? Serious question. To go to 53 from 52? Is that worth the effort? Is the relative PVP power logarithmic in those levels or is it just a a slight bump (gear and skills being equal) like it is in the lower levels?

Unless you've gotten to 52+ you haven't really experienced it.

The grind in the mid to late 50s is beyond brutal - 100s and 100s of hours of grinding the same group of mobs.

here's what AoE ranger grinding looks like - basically imagine that for about 300-400 hours.

They very well might have experienced it.

In Lineage 2 I spent many levels only in one space (outside giant's cave) because it was the best place to level a Dark Elf mage. And you must know how long levels take in that game?

To that end, I spent a year just making half a level in the upper levels.

I highly doubt there's anything in Black Desert that will make players of old Asian grinders balk. (provided they liked that kind of thing.)

As someone who didn't play either of the CBTs, I was wondering the same thing. The haters and defenders are really vehement about their positions for this game. I haven't seen this pitch of forum pvp since the build up to the GW2 launch. Was the TORtanic period or AA post-launch cash shop this divisive? Maybe. But BDO is up there.

when they do raise the lvl cap to 90 in the future they will raise the soft cap also so i'm not worried about that.

There are skills unlocks that open up - also awakening your weapon at 56 is sort of a big deal (unlocks awakened weapon skill line after you do the quest at 56)- not a minor bump. Everyone aims to get to 56 because of this - also it unlocks 2nd weapon swapping in combat which unlocks further combos post 56.

But look at the skills - there are skill unlocks well past 60 even (like level 90 reqs) - but this is not feasably attainable right now as 60-61 takes about 2000 hours of grind, I cant even imagine what it would take to get to level 90.

Ahh OK. gotcha... didn't know about the further skill unlocks, awakening, weapon swap, etc. But I have confidence in the power of the masses whining... if it's too much for too many they'll probably tweak XP curves for the NA/EU versions like they already have (slowing it a bit) for the lower levels.

DMKano, whats the highest lvl you got to in beta? Id be curious to try it as I haven't read too much into the game. if the game is interesting I wouldn't mind giving it a try but somewhat on the fence. Building my new pc after work tomorrow and want to see what this game looks like on it. I remember the hell lvls in eq1, do the later lvls compare to that at all?

If I don't care about grinding mobs is it worth a go?

The world of Bless looks amazing in very YouTube video I've seen. It looks positively huge.
Can easily see many hard set on BDO jumping to Bless down the line as it seems very friendly to particular demographics while keeping with Eastern game design which seems to be picking up quite a bit in the West. Haven't bothered looking into it much myself as tab/themeparks aren't my thing anymore, but curious what the NA result will be (I assume there will be one).

The primary reason for this is due to content not being added for those higher levels more so than anything else so people are grinding to level beyond what the content level is at. They have plans for more content etc.

The game is a pretty remarkable addition to the mmo stable. It's definitely created a pretty big buzz. I'm curious how it will unfold over the next year and how Bless and a few other upcoming Korean releases coming down the pipe will compete with it.

Bless is a themepark - it's got even better graphics IMO and the world in Bless is the best persistant world I've ever played.

The combat in Bless is action-hybrid so it's more mass market acceptable - IMO Bless will do quite well.

It's not really a direct competitor with Black Desert - as it has strong group PvE content out of the gate.

Bless Online isn't anywhere near BDO graphical quality without an better foliage system. (but then again, that's most likely an limitation of UE3 Engine)

Tried out the Korean beta with English patch and it seems that like most peoples opinions that their combat system needs heavy work is very true.

I've been looking for a MMO that will hold my attention for 3-5 years like UO and L2 did.

    I think this is it.

Cannot wait to get stuck into it.

Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76)
Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe

I haven't really been following this game at all.  However, the video linked in the OP was done very well and helped get someone like me up to speed.  Still not my cup of tea since I tend to stay away from Asian grinders.  I do like the way the end game is described since I'm more of a pvp'er, and the game looks great.  I have a sneaking suspicion though that there are more than the usual amount of female characters running around than male characters.  If I was to play this game I would probably play a female character too. :p

    Very good video!!

Combat system... omg, this is the reason why I love BDO and don't mind grinding. It's almost like a fighting game. It feels very satisfying, something that no other MMO games have. I think this is very revolutionary in the world of MMOs.

Do you even know anything about this game?  You will likely say yes - but this comment tells me no, you don't.
