You can almost do everything as prefered except the new xpac, that is sub only.

If you sub do the monthly one for 14.99 and you get access to all content, no block at all. :)

    welcome home!

pvp balance is worse than ever.   Since you come back from a long break you should have enough pve content to last a while.

The problem with any mmo and pvp is that you are really committed to 1 class, with the down time to lvl up that character, get gear at end game and experiment with different specs before finding out if its for your or not. (some mmos avoid this with gw but may be not as well they could in terms of someone only interested in pvp for example and little mmo grind).

Of course as mentioned the issue with specs and imbalance can arise with swtor specifically also becuase certain specs are not balanced for pvp as well. Which means a certain playstyle is not to your liking and want to try another class which is another 400 hours (less with 12x exp for story.

Imo, they should bridge that down time for pvp and the issue for balance will be less of an issue. Also I would like them introduce actual trainers of how classes are intended to be played for certain specs. Some people takes classes to a whole new level with spell weaving and that might be the imbalance.

Yep, subbing for a month permanently unlocks all the current expansion content.
As for the rest of the questions...

PvP will never be fully balanced. So it isn't at the moment either.
And there have been several new raids since Denova. Scum and Villainy, Terror from Beyond, and a handful of others have been added since.

I liked it better before the whole story driven update, back then I could actually do flashpoints without having to deal with a new player after the first one. To me I just lose interest in it too quickly now.

Now it feels like a game run by a confused developer that doesn't really like or care about the game they are making. Such a shame it's another game on the list with wasted potential.

Still if you like Star Wars it might be worth subbing for a month or two for the stories just don't expect much. PvP is still unbalanced but PvE is so easy now you can probably finish all the stories and max out in under a month.

The class stories and PvE was always easy, but unless you put in 16 hours a day or some other ridiculously hardcore crap, you're not going to finish them in a month. Unless you spacebar through every conversation... in which case, why on Earth are you even bothering with that game? Since it's all about the stories.
