That has to do with security and the combat system, though, not the fact that it's FFA.
Lot of people want it to be a 'real' sandbox as they say so what would you do if the developer caved in changed it back? Was going to make a poll but maybe someone has time to do it. Be interesting to hear your thought though.
EDIT: The system would be OW FFA, looting player kills and no karma.
They can do it if they want to, but they will have to happily provide full refund to anyone who purchased their current vision, not the OWFFA last minute derp.
Keep in mind the cost was removed to upkeep a declaration of war.
Keep in mind accepting war all members of your guild regardless of level are open to attack and killed without the attacker taking karma loss so if you are PvE and expect not to partake of GvG you are in for a bit of a surprise.

It is the highest skill ceiling MMO combat I've seen. Those mountain dew 19 year olds will pwn you over and over. I enjoyed free aim much more than anything else I've played in the MMO genre. Even though I had a win percentage of about 8% unless we outnumber the other party.
The fear and intensity of a siege in DF is unrivaled due to the FFA full loot PvP with destructible cities. Nothing like having the scout call back that the enemy force was on their way and they far outnumbered our allies. Hiding in a valley...hearing their mounts incoming...waiting for the call.
The hax and cheats can be blamed on a crap company that ran the game.
BDO needs to add player owned cities and a bit more risk vs reward (not full loot obviously). I know they are trying to cater to everyone but it is likely not going to be a very engaging siege or non instanced PvP system. They could add something for open world PvP in the outlaw Valencia region maybe.
Edit: Just read the link. That is stupid no upkeep and no other guild consent is really really stupid. There is no way that will fly. You can declare eternal war on another guild, that doesn't consent, and have no upkeep past the initial charge. I don't see any reason to kill anyone in PvP anyway. Not like your going to get something from them. PvP for PvP's sake is lame. Also no level restriction lol. They have some work to do or people will run to the hills. My guess is the PvP ganker guilds will get really bored with no loot or rewards for killing people in open world PvP.
My guild would play it immediately if that happened heh.

Anyway, I would play it until it stopped being fun.
On the flip side of the coin what would people do if they reverted the game to the Korean Karma system where the reds drop gear and shed salty tears when they're hunted?
I think the Korean karma and pvp system is better, but either way I'll just play until I get bored.
If it was like DF in terms of full loot pvp with no consequence I would probably just stop playing, those types of games can be fun but its not what attracted me to BDO.
