Lol... but I think people are angry because of how much costumes cost in BDO compared to other games. 10-15$ is standard for a costume from cash shop. 30$? Outrageous.
The costumes are $20.... they are $29 with a weapon skin included. Its a bundle... people are morons and dont read, they see one number and scream and shout without having all the facts and researching. Thats why all this shit is annoying. People dont do their research.

In that case, they probably would have been better off simply selling the costumes for $20 and the weapon skins for $10. Believe it or not, there is a huge reasons why marketing firms are a billion dollar industry in the real world. BDO should have hired a good one.
Wouldn't buy them personally but is it really so outrageous? Path Of Exile's armour sets are around 400 - 500 points which is $20 - $25 and that excludes weapons. No idea if you can use that across all characters or not. One thing that would be nice would be the ability to convert in game money to pearls and then purchase the skins if you want, GW2 style.

They do... they already do sell them separately, he gave you those prices. Please people.
Gaming is a hobby. If you can't afford it, go get a job. Some people build model air planes, Some people ride motor cycles, Some jump out of planes. If you can't afford spending 30$ on the hobby you take interest in I say again GO GET A JOB! or find a cheaper hobby... 30$ is pretty cheap in my opinion.
You say $30 for a costume in a video game is pretty cheap?
Is your name, by any chance, Bill Gates?
That is truly a ridiculous price for "one" costume. Most video games don't even cost that much.
Hmm. Quite. People seem to ignore common sense as well as the finer points of business when it comes to customer bases and companies that are in it for the long term and not just fast cash.
Value is what a shrewd and responsible consumer considers at all times; even when it comes to expensive hobbies -- which gaming is not in the West -- you always try to get your best bang for the buck. This baseball card is $500 less than the other, and still in mint?
Sold.
Bending over and accepting less than what is appropriate is one thing that makes consumerism so hard to maintain in a proper manner. Like how we're now accepting half a AAA game to be complete when buying it for full price, and getting the rest of it months or years down the line. Often with season passes that cost nearly as much as the game in the first place. The most egregious of recent matters regarding this is Street Fighter V and the controversy it has spewed (not to mention Star Wars Battlefront).
Yet some people who have excess money for hobbies -- big or small -- say it's no big deal and that they'd pay any amount. These people do not know the value of a dollar and are the bread and butter of many corporations. As they say in business, the quickest way to get rich is to find someone dumber than you and convince them they want / need your product. Which is easy to do for those susceptible to large scale advertisements and group hype for their "hobbies".
To say "Get a Job" is simplistic and ignorant of what is actually occurring. It's being passive, it's enabling. It's condemning a "hobby" into something of lesser and lesser quality, but for more money. If only "value" was a term that more people understood (not to change the subject on that... but WoW with its 15+ month droughts would've dropped a lot more subscribers by now if it was). Though as such, all we can hope is that people don't buy their overpriced costumes; the game itself seems to have value for the price point, but we'll see how long that lasts and if they provide sufficient updates to allow for someone to say "yeah, okay... I see myself playing this for months or years, and I will support them and get something nifty out of it".
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

No people are not morons, they are reading things like this:
Overall costume prices will be reduced ~10% from $32 to $29.
That doesn't indicate that items are sold separately.
Additionally, the ten ton hammer article says this:
One costume, including a matching weapon, is a whopping $32
But doesn't say within that paragraph that weapons are sold separately. so it's understandable why people are led to believe that "a costume" costs x amount.

Just a reminder this is the price of a costume AND weapon. There are already -just costumes- in the shop for around $20. You can also buy the weapon separately.
I'm tired of people complaining about the costume prices. The pets matter more, the cost of pets should have gone down.
Pretty much. This puts them on par with Aion and similar games that sell weapon and armor "skins" in their shops. And BDO's have the advantage that they are a lot easier to use than the skins. Especially the one time use ones that some of those games had.
There's also no premium option for this game that gives others advantages over you, which is also factored into the prices

Again, it's all in how it's marketed. A good job of marketing a product goes a long way towards ensuring its eventual success, just as the poor job of marketing it can lead to its eventual failure.

Nope. PoE's are just for one character as well. Unless they changed it by now. I bought a few back in the day to support the game since I was actively playing it for a while.

The thing is, no one is forcing you to buy these things! If you think there expensive, the dont buy them! problem solved
If someone is talking in general chat in a language you dont understand, chances are they're not talking to you. So chill out and stop bitching about it!

Better to appraise them of the problem now and help them in attaining success, than keeping quiet and not buying them thereby ensuring their failure, don't you think?
This is why i prefer no cash shops and a monthly fee to play an MMO but people complain about having to pay that way too. I guess some people want everything free.... Although i do think those costume prices are high in my opinion.

This doesnt exist. The subscription-only mmos out there all have cash shops.
cash shop costumes are really nothing compared to the costumes you can get by just playing the game. Also, costumes can be broken down completely from foot, hands, chest, head, weapon so if you want to mix match you can. Or if you want to save money, you can, you dont need the whole set.
people should care less about costumes, because theyre not cash shop exclusive, and pay more attention to pets and what it will cost to breed them to higher levels. Because those /are/ cash shop exclusive.
all in all, dont expect MMO's ever to be free. This isnt new. Nobody has an issue paying $40-$60 or more for a box of WoW and then be FORCED to pay $15 a month just to log in and play.
anyway, dont ever expect an mmo to not want to sell content in some form. thats just stupid.
Cmon people, who is forcing you buy these dumb items? If this really bothers you make your voice heard and vote for Bernie, it will all just get handed to you.

I wonder what excuse F2P advocates can come up with now to justify the F2P model over a subscription model. With a subscription model the entire game, including those costumes and everything in that cash shop would be available to the player for $15 per month. We have now graduated beyond just a F2P model with a cash shop to a B2P model with a cash selling one item for twice the price of what the highest monthly cost of any game featuring a subscription model. Perfect example of being careful of what you wish and push for because it just might eventually jump up and bite you in the butt. Slippery slope indeed!
Looks like someone planned costumes to be the main income, purposefully implemented no visual gear progression otherwise and now has a hard time backing down from that idea.

What sub exclusive games are there that don't also have cash shops? I can't think of a single one off the top of my head.
A game about a player run economy needs some clues on how to run itself. Then again I have spent hundreds on costumes in Rift and GW2 and other such MMOS with costumes in their shops and I will probably spend hundreds more. I don't mind spending $20 on a costume that I like, and if it comes with a cool weapon skin for another $9 then well, that's just fantastic. I'll take it!
I'd say this was a joke, but it isn't funny. hey are assuming the average gamer is an idiot with no control over their wallet... They're probably right.

WTF are you even talking about there are literally only 3 or 4 armor models with minor visual differences in the game for every class and they mostly look like this:
There is nothing you can get in game. There ARE NO COSTUMES YOU GET INGAME the only other visual stuff is the craftable lifeskill Armor stuff which makes you look like a fisher or such (they still look like potato sacks and you can not wear it for combat) and it's not a costume it's armor with a crafting bonus you can't craft Costumes in our version of the game at all or get in any other way then buying it from the Shop if you are fine with looking like the picture above from lvl 1-? then ok some ppl might not be. Honestly i could care less about the costumes or their prices if they had alternatives ingame like every other MMO out there has.
