imageBDO Crafting 101

Crafting in Black Desert Online can be an intimidating and complicated affair. In most recent MMORPGs players collect 100 of x and 100 of y then go AFK while they combine materials and come back an hour later at the new crafting cap. This does not hold true for BDO. In BDO crafting is separated into collecting, processing, and finally crafting. A slightly more complicated affair than what some are used to.

What a crock. Sounds to me like adding in extra steps so they can sell you cash shop crafting enhancers. Money grabbing Korean special at its best.
Guess I'm jaded tho, I cut my teeth in pre-cu crafting on SWG. No game since except for maybe Eve has had a crafting system anywhere near that level of detail and personal satisfaction.

You better start gathering as soon as your feet hit the ground. Well if you like that sort of thing hit up the first general merchant you find and get some tools!

What an awesome crafting system they designed. To bad they didnt add interdependence with crafters and P2P trading. Could have been something as awesome as SWG crafting with a few changes. Their crafting is something that has me close to wanting to try this game. Still in the wait and see group.

You really should learn more about the game before going on a rant. From what I have seen from watching hundreds of hours of streams and asking questions I have found that the crafting system is very well designed.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Yep, it's all a huge conspiracy. I hear Daum is also releasing mind control rays in order to get you to buy more cash shop items. Better go get your tin foil hat!

Oh so if it is a western company then it is very detailed and gives you satisfaction, but since BDO is korean it is automatically a money grabbing scheme? LOL... tsk tsk tsk.

I'm a hardcore pvper who usually spends 90% or more of his time doing endgame pvp in the typical mmo's we've gotten for the past 5 or more past years. Yet, I plan on spending half or more of my time doing tons of pve in BDO. If it's not boring and dumbed down and actually requires knowledge and rewards you for your effort, I actually like pve.

Looking forward to fishing, trading, leveling horses while trading, collecting, processing, collecting nodes, hiring/creating/maintaining a network of workers, amity mini-games, buying/decorating houses, utilizing specialized workshops (mainly to build siege equipment), and finally the tons of crafting options (cooking being my favorite so far).

    EVE released before SWG.

I played CB2 of BDO and tried to get my head around the trade nodes and crafting in the game. It is very in depth and because of that I like what I saw.

While everyone rushes to kill Imps I will be roaming around the starting village talking to all the npcs I had missed on the map. Also as you gain anmity with each npc it can open up more quests and special items to buy or rent.

So the more friendly you are with the local population the more items and quests you get, along with more energy and contribution points.

Also if you invest energy into trade nodes this can increase the loot drops and make getting rare drops easier to find.

Overall Black Desert Online is one of the most in depth mmo's I have seen since SWG was released. I loved SWG right up till the NGE which is when it died for me. So I think I will be staying in BDO for quite a while.

This is the part about BDO that people are missing. What BDO is trying to recapture is what it was like to play an MMO before the internet. Lots of games have talked about trying to make you recapture exploration and investigation but in the end they just lead from zone to zone doing a series of quests, Even GW2 who preached about exploration has their exploration only relevant to finding a couple of hidden jumping puzzles (They did improve this massively with living story and grand quests like mawdrey). Most games have far rely on the internet knowing that their player base gets overly frustrated when they don't know what to do, BDO is about people who want to get together as a group and figure stuff out.

If by that you mean, you can't kill and skin 1000 foxes in less than an hour, yes.

    in bdo

your workers collect stuff for hours
then you must process these mats for hours
then give them to your workers to craft a weapon for hours

I am really looking forward to playing this game ,but i am a bit worried about the housing part as this could be a game killer for me,ive read somewhere that their wont be enough for everyone and that the ones that come up for grabs will be auctioned to the highest bidder and from the sound of it for us crafters and empire builders we are going to need all of the 5 possible houses, hopefully they have changed this can anyone confirm ? .
  • CouganCougan Member UncommonPosts: 422
Actually the housing is all instanced so you can buy houses anywhere you want

i know its instanced but supposedly was still limited but hopefully they have changed that to unlimted .

I've read since the houses are instanced it means more than one person can basically own the same house

My experience was a bit low on that in low levels. More like skin ten fox ans use a new knife because the knife was broken and energy is 1 per skinning so with 39 points ist was 39 wolves, boars, bears per 39 minutes. wait 3 minutes per regen to restore. maybe it gets better in higher tiers but 1000?

Not knocking the game just saying what my experience was did not equal you statement.
