Grim Dawn was originally kickstarted before Kickstarter became the boomtown it is now way back in 2012. Now, years later, the Action RPG from Crate Entertainment is finally leaving early access and launching in the wild (as of 2/25) for all to play and enjoy. Frankly, if you’re a fan of ARPGs, you will not want to miss this one.

It fell off my radar at some time, so it's launch caught me by surprise today.
Titan Quest was a very good game, so coming from the former IronLore folks i expect this one to rock.

If you watch the Kripp interview,a lot of obvious truth comes out.
He basically said the only needed to be as good as the competition of which at that time there was no competition, similar to why Eve gets away with a shallow game.Once he "Bruno" saw the arpg market was taking off and several other games were coming out,he had to go back and try and catch up to the competition.
However from my standpoint as a gamer,i am not into small effort ,few ideas type gaming.I am looking for a large packaged game with lots of systems.
Kripp sums it up pretty much the way i see the direction of this genre. He said he got bored within a few days but it is a very addicting type genre.I have also watched Kripp play POE a game he really likes. The truth behind the whole genre is the addicting aspect is simply making a build then seeing if that build can one shot everything, personally not my idea of fun interactive combat.
To mindlessly keep spamming one shot kills is incredibly boring,i can't handle more than 1 hour tops. That is why this genre needs MORE in systems and design.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
What were you trying to gear as and gear for?
Conjurer was my first 85 and and I never had to "gear." The only thing you really have to watch for as a conjurer is not getting one shotted, so all I did was take defensive devotions and stack vitality damage. My only gripe with this build is that all the gear that buffs vitality damage is severely lacking in OA, and as such you do about 50% less damage than an OA focused Blademaster. That being said 16 minutes to do BoC isn't that bad, especially considering that I'm using mostly self-found whatever the hell dropped.
As for a heavy armor caster, I have a cooldown focused Sorcerer, however I doubt that when he reaches 85 he'll still wear heavy armor, heavy armor takes too much physique, and physique kinda sucks.
I can't really imagine what you were trying to build as a heavy armor caster other than a sorcerer.
Ultimately the game suffers from the same balance issues that every ARPG has, CRIT AND LIFESTEAL ARE ALWAYS TOP TIER.
Also for any returning players, veteran hits about 40% harder, ultimate hits for about 40% less.
Alkamos can crit for over 3800 unmitigated damage on veteran, where as Shar'zul does less than 25000 unmitigated dps with maximum tornadoes active on ultimate. However as I'm typing this there is an update, so we'll have to see if that's changed.
