Bought the Explorers pack which advertised a pre-start of 0800 today (UTC time), which has passed.  Can't get in and apparently, from the forums, although the Explorer pack start time is today, it only applies if you bought the explorer pack by 26th Feb.  So, you can have an explorer pack costing 49.99 and not get access to the Explorer early start time.

There's about 100 people on the official forums complaining about the shoddy treatment, and the list is growing.  My faith in the company is now already broken.  This particular nuance was not made clear through the purchase process i.e. buy explorer pack and explore pack start time is today, but not for everyone it seems.

Orders up to the 26th gave you early access, beyond that it doesn't.
  • mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450
That wasn't clear anywhere through the purchase process as hundreds are now pointing out.  If you clicked on some other link to read that, that's ok, I understand, but the process I went throught shows that Explorers package start is today and I own that package - nothing I saw said it didn't include pre-order.  Seriously, if you buy a game before it's launch and pay a special rate to get a title i.e. Explorer, with that package launching on a certain day, how can people with that package not expect to play it?

The fact that there are many many unhappy customers tells you the company messed up their marketing and failed to manage expectations.
  • mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450

Here is the launch screen.  I have Explorer Package.  So tell me where it says that only pre-orders (which mine was as I bought it before the launch days) will get in.  The marketing and advertising is shocking because when you buy the Explorer's package and that start day is today, combined with the above, you expect to get in.

They've taken the forums down now because they don't like what people are telling them.  Not just me, but hundreds.

So tell me, if so many customers feel misled, someone has to have failed in how the product was marketed and advertised.

They could have made it more clear on their homepage at what date you get access to game. I'll admit that. Not sure whether they did this on purpose or are just lazy. On the other hand they nowhere say that you would get early access if you buy a package now.

Anyway , what is a few days in an MMO ? If it would matter the MMO would not be worth it anyway.

Thanks.  The issue for me isn't about the money or waiting 3 more days, it's how the company looks to be acting at such an early stage, which is worrying in a game I might invest time in.  I've requested a refuns, as have many others, not because we can't wait 3 days but because trust has now been wiped.

Especially if the thing you need to read is on a page that you do not need to visit in order to purchase the game.

Except that to buy the game I didn't read their news page I clicked on the link to the purchase and read what was on offer and bought it.  This is what I saw.

Buying before the launch date counts as a pre-order to most people, and nothing on the screen suggested otherwise. Point is that IT WAS NOT EXPLICITLY clear to people that there is a specific pre-order period unless they searched the news page. Special rules should be clear on the path you need to take to make the purchase.

They put this message up TODAY following all the complaints - this message was not up yesterday when I bought it.  Dishonest,

As an mmo vet, I've learned to read and re-read developer's announcements/news pages etc.

Still as has been said earlier, it's not the end of the world if you missed their timeline announcement, just a couple of days before getting in.
It'll still be chaotic on the 3rd with the rush.........and.......
Just waiting for the "it's impossible to play with all these 7 day guest pass free-loaders around, they should be banned!"

A smart Publisher would have used a different name for the normal sale packages, just saying^^
I knew this would happen the moment i saw they didn't change the names of them, cause ppl never read or do any research they just blindly mash buy.
  • SpottyGekkoSpottyGekko Member EpicPosts: 6,916

It's very bad form to not include a CLEAR warning on the item info page if certain of the benefits no longer apply at the time of sale.

Was it simply ineptitude or calculated dishonesty ?

We'll see how things develop over the next few weeks/months, but I suspect this will not be the last of the "questionable" actions. "Bait-and-Switch" seems to be a standard Daum tactic...

Quite interesting that you suddenly found some screenshots of the pre-order page which doesn't exist anymore... what a coincidence.

If you really bought on that page, check on your account page if you have any pre-order items.

In your game purchase history, the date must be before the 26 when the pre-orders were closed.
The page doesn't exist anymore because of the complaints about no pre-order warnings when purchases were made. They pulled them the morning the thread started and people began to find out they couldn't log in when the page said their start date began.

    It's a lie by omission.

So, now it becomes clear !

If you pay for a game before launch day, it's not actually a "Pre-Order" unless the company says so ?

Welcome to the new world order, lol

They had a clear preorder cut off date (It's nothing unusual btw) it's kinda your fault for not noticing that, honestly it feels wrong that I am the one defending them here....

It did state on the site that everyone had upto the 26th, this was clearly stated with plenty of warning that early access offer will end on 26th so people should stop complaining.

Oh give me a break! this isn't even related to the gaming industry nor are they disclaimers, they are warnings to tell people to be careful! which yes then makes it not their responsibility should people overlook it but thats all it really has to do with disclaiming.
Since you are comparing it to this then I say your logic is that people shouldn't be refunded because they clearly overlooked a warning! therefor it is not the company's liability to pay refund them! it was not mislead.  Your statement contradicts itself and doesn't make alot of sense in either way.  Unless of course there is some sarcasm in there, but it was pretty poor imo.

Actually you can't refund if you either  downloaded or even started the client:

    Edit:
Also you have to check a check box that makes you waive your right to refund altogether if you start the client

    http://imgur.com/jv2Q4sG

Since everyone has at least downloaded the client they can't refund.

Yeah, I heard about that one and imo that part was pretty retarded but the debate here is getting a refund because people feel they were some how mislead about early access when they weren't!  Even you yourself pointed out that it was clearly stated on the site.
