Albion Online. Figured I'd do the founders package and get some neat items on a game I was going to enjoy. But they falsely advertised the game and have gone back on their original vision. I'm not really too upset about the money I spent so much as I don't get to play the game they originally advertised. No more open world hardcore PvP game
My worst regrets have always involved rng lockboxes, I know it's a scam but you always think that you'll get lucky this time and you never do, I think the most I ever spent in one go on lockboxes was $200 and got all junk items, felt sick afterwords. Also when I played gw1 even though I already owned the game & all the expansions, I was so hooked to it that I went and bought the collectors version of the main game and all the expansions on ebay just for the special emotes and crap like that, think they totalled around 500-600 dollars.
Thinking back now it was pretty stupid, But at the end of the day money comes and goes, as long as you're having fun that's the main thing.

Same, heard amazing things about albion here, Went and bought the highest founders pack, played it for about 20-30 minutes and realised I was playing a horribly ported mobile game on pc. Such a let down and they wouldn't even refund me, haven't played it since and probably won't ever play it again. What annoyed me the most though was the fact I was stupid enough to buy the highest founders pack before even trying the game, The only way to try the game is to buy a founders pack and you cant upgrade them, so you cant buy the lowest one, try the game, enjoy it and then upgrade it. That's why I got the highest one, I was convinced I would enjoy it because of the hype and didn't want to buy it twice.
Tell you what though I've learned my lesson with Albion/Early Access. Don't fall for the hype!
Star Craft 2 $75 with taxes then played it for 10 days or less and WOW:WoD paid $100 for box + 3 months of sub, end up quitting after 2 months and 1-2 weeks. Pretty much anything from Blizzard...
My worst purchase is by far buying into the SWTOR hype. I bought it because it was Star Wars.. Never walked away with such a shallow, empty experience in my life.
From a SW's stand point, it was worse than jar jar.
buying keys for damn rng boxes in Neverwinter.. thinking that it coudl make some gold... bought about 5-10 keys then realised how they screw you over.. no more since then only things like bag space or permanent mining picks/wood cutters in wildstar etc
edit
would also add some early access as well whilst i see the game and think why not just throw 20-30 quid at it. then get bored in 2 weeks lol
I will see your buying keys for the RNG boxes. And raise you a Hero of the North pack. Doesn't get any dumber than that but somehow I did it. Well buying ships (or pictures of them) in Star Citizen is dumber but that doesn't make me feel better lol.
I was desperate for a new fantasy MMO and love Dungeons and Dragons. I read a big article about how Neverwinter was going to be great and was even featured on PC gamer's magazine cover. I took the gamble that it would be something I would play at least a year or two at worst. Made it about a month - tried coming back made it a few hours. I also stopped reading PC gamer after that, I should have after the 9 (or 10) score they gave Dragon Age 2 when it launched. Would have saved some money.
I don't regret this yet but, I bought an apex last night for $9.99 so I could get some gold to snag some property while I have some free patron time. That's not too bad. I found some better lots and was thinking about buying some more apex to get that...but then I found this thread. Property and farmville in AA is my weakness. Thanks.
Rift:
I bought the recent most expensive pack for the new class. I don't even remember how much now, but I only played for 3 or 4 days. I spent a lot of money on this game, but I only regret this one purchase. It's over now. WoW:
Bought WoD instant 90 paladin. Made it to level 92 and quit.
Recently bought a couple of WoW tokens to sell for gold to upgrade all
my heirloom stuff to level alts. Played for a week and bored again.
Spent over $200 transferring characters to a server to play with an old friend. The guy (still my friend in RL) quit WoW for RL reasons a month later.
Elder Scrolls Online:
I bought the Orsinium collector's pack for $50 when I could have just bought the regular one for $30. That bothers me because I don't use vanity pets and I HATE the bear mount animation and never use it.
PlanetSide 2:
Bought the founders pack. Played for about a week. I still have Station Cash (or whatever it's called now) but since they closed Vanguard, there is nothing for me to spend it on because I don't play any Dawnbreak games.
I don't regret:
I've spent the most money on GW2, Hearthstone and War Thunder, but I don't regret it even though I'm not playing either right now. I know I will go back at some point. I binge on those games. I've spent hundreds on these games.
150 bucks founders pack Archeage. On paper I loved every single aspect of the game, I couldn't go wrong, 150 dollars well spend I thought. Except that none of the amazing systems on paper translated into a fun game for me. No clue where it went wrong, it is not even their horrible cash shop, the actual game just didn't resonate with me at all.
Made lots more of purchases but never regretted any other, not even the lifetime pack for The Secret World.

Spent quiet some money on cash shops. The worst and most pointless are the keys in CSGO to open boxes. Since the odds of getting something rare and valuable is very very small.
The stuff I bought in some other games, for instance mount in wow, still got more value than my blue weapons in CSGO.
My weakest moment has to be buying card decks in SWG trying to find those cards which lead to rare items; I got to about 80 us dollars. I'm older and wiser now, so don't fall for that anymore.
I don't utilize cash shops in most games. The most purchases I have made have been playing League of Legends, and most of the money spent on League I haven't regretted, with one exception.
As a practical joke I bought a champion unlock for a character named Teemo as a gift for a friend that absolutely despises the champion. He put in a ticket to have the champion removed from his account. A few months later a skin came out for one of my favorite champions, but I didn't have the Riot Points to purchase it anymore. I still haven't picked up more Riot Points for it, because I'm a cheapskate.
You can play for free as long as you want, but as soon as you pay a single month's worth of subscription your account is forever locked behind a pay wall.

It is worst because APB is not a good game and the devs don't care about the game anymore, they just wanted to squeeze every penny from it.
