If a company can't be bothered to explain more about their game on their own web site, then I can't be bothered to play it. Too many awful games out there to bother jumping in blind in hopes that I've found a gem.
To be fair, companies don't have an obligation to explain a lot of detail about their game before they even start the open beta. Maybe they'll have a perfectly good web site a year from now, and then I'll be able to find out of if the game looks interesting. But it's not there yet.
Sounds like some people are suffering from "new launch fatigue", lol
It feels like there's a new Korean MMO launching every week nowadays. With so much "new" going around, just being new is just not enough to get you any attention anymore...
I was excited when i found the game in january because i wanted a tab target game with a healer and a themepark mmo but since i found the game the guide section on the website isn't complete and has been the same since i found the game and seems webzen haven't even tried to hype the game.
I am seriously not expecting much i have heard things about Webzen over the years but i have never played any of the games they have published and apparently people think how busy their forum is before an open beta is normal i had to laugh when i heard that.
The game seems ok so far but i am level 9 just jpoined some boss fight it might of been fun if i hadn't just caiught the end of it, I walked in and boom i was dead on the floor like many others lol.
The concern i have is Webzen even the moderators use to many emotions in their posts for my liking i just hope i am not playing the game with a loads of teenagers.
Well as a sucker for a freebie, i have been playing this since the servers came up about 4 hours ago.
And lets hype this game up a bit...
here goes....
are you ready for the hype
get ready its coming....
its almost time.....
well thats as good as it gets... .the game is MEH! ... been there done that. not once i have bothered to read the quests no point, no connection to the cahracters, all the voice seems to say in game is some crap about "look to the sky for direction" and "arent you beatiful" regardles of what sex i am or the npc is.
This game is lazy, for first few levels i woudl liken it to WoW meets hello kitty.... because thats the feeling i get, the npcs you kill are all happy, nothing serious , no mobs to attack you until you attack them... 1-2-3 shot them.
Basically if you want a free 2 play that reminds you of WoW (graphically from abotu 2007) then guys you have found it.
For me its very very very simplistic, but... what makes it worse, having played Blade n Soul recently OMG how slow is the combat. 3sec cast timers... geez it kills me 0.5 secs cast timers...
basically everything about this game suggests a nice tea time game with a biscuit and cup of tea, maybe something that your daughter/grand-daughter would enjoy as her forray into mmo for first time
In fact the game is that 'nice' that even the "global/area" chat is civilised...
so going to play for open beta as im bored lol, but i can be pretty assured that unless i hit an area and bang it gets intersting this game will go into my 'been there done that many times' cupboard.
So time to make a cup of tea, grab my rich-tea and on with the levelling.
Lineage plays different than Black Desert which plays Different than ASTA. 3 Korean MMOs that play nothing alike. Where are all the western MMOs? At least the Korean Market is trying. The West cannot even seem to do that. Rift? WildStar? STO? SWTOR? When the West is a major player in the MMO market again I think we can talk about how much some dislike this or that. Other than ESO and GW2 the western market has not made many contributions to the MMO genre in years. WOW is still going though. For now.
Personally, I never cared what nationality the game comes from. If it's crap, I won't play it. Simple.
Having said that, I do have yet to find a game developed by west that I would enjoy playing. Maybe it's because western gaming developers lack imagination (I blame baby boomers for this) and couldn't develop their way out of a paper bag.
For me it's that dry aesthetic that seems to be the thing in western sandboxes or ideas for western sandboxes. (sorry, wildstar is anything but but it's also not beautiful like K-mmos)
I want to see a combination of the korean flashy flash and western ideas put together well.
As soon as I saw "Korean" in the game's description I feel I have already seen everything the game has to offer. Honestly, they're all alike.
I've only played 3 Korean-made MMORPGs: Atlantica, TERA, and Elsword. No two of them are remotely similar, and TERA is the only one of the three that has much in common with other MMORPGs I've played. Elsword is the only one of the three that was good, though. Atlantica did have good combat, but managed to screw up just about everything else in the entire game, including things that I didn't realize it was possible to screw up.
Everything feels like such a choir these days in the MMORPG genre, this game is actually fun which I am quite enjoying, a nice change of pace from most of the games i've played recently, it's nice to see a more traditional MMO with a few new tweaks.
This is depressing i thought i would level up tonight but i haven't seen anyone for the last 5 hours this is very sad for a first night of open beta and no one has spoken in faction chat not even a gold seller but the game seems ok. lol
I tried the game, I can not come to terms with the cartoon / manga graphic style, such games reminds me on games suitable for small children, but otherwise, they are no less violent like most of other mmos, I don't like this combination at all:/. Outside of this, to me the game seems to be quite good, kinda classical mmo.
Although it could not be more generic, I think it just what I need right now. I logged out in frustration after hitting lvl 4 thinking this is silly and I've done it so many times before. There was nothing new and the translation and voice actors are cheesy and bad, but for some reason I logged back on today and it's fun somehow. It shouldn't be though and I can't really understand why. The eu server seems very silent though, I've seen 3 other people so far - and faction chat is all italian, baltic, deutsch everything but English. I might check out the na server instead.

Does this one do anything out of the ordinary? Does it at least do what it does well?

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

I think the game is ok but everything is always at the end so i can't tell until i get to end game if i will stay with the game.
I think there is only one NA and one EU server.

In truth, Korean imports are much more diverse from each other than our Western releases.
