Its patching up at home while Im at work.

Never followed the game, never even really looked it up until yesterday.  Only way to see if the game is as good or as bad as people say is to give it a try.  That's the ONLY way to make an educated decision.

Hopefully it's good.  I only spent the $29.99 option so if it's not what it seems then EH.....Im only out $29.99 no biggie.

Can't complain / Rave about it until you try it.

See you out there sometime......if and when the servers get going.

Make sure you get into some of the game's systems and don't just level to 10 without doing anything else. It's easy to level at the start but the game has more to offer than quests.

To that end you have to actually unlock some quests from npc's. I really suggest looking at a few videos (and Bill here at mmorpg.com just put a small starter tutorial on nodes and such on the site) as there is a bit of a learning curve.

I feel dirty for asking, but if you don't have any particular person on your mind, could you please send me your guest pass? I would love to try this game out before paying, I had too much bad experience buying blind.

Don't judge the first 30 minutes... there is a much larger, robust system in the first large town of Velia...that is where you start to learn some of the interesting systems like nodes, crafting, trading, and knowledge

Dont feel "dirty" Never hurts to ask.

Unfortunately I gave it to my son as he wants to try it out as well.  Hope you can find someone here that will help you out.

Thanks. I just dropped in to tell that I indeed managed to catch a key. I wish you and your son an enjoyable time :)

I know @Jean-Luc_Picard  I was laughing out loud at that level of dolt.

I really cannot understand why a game causes people to feel so threatened that they stoop so low as creating threads on how they cannot understand the hype or lamely ridicule it when there is nothing to ridicule.

Pretty much. Sometimes it is beyond me just how hard some try.
Of course some of those attempts wind up being so ridiculous that they are actually amusing. Case in point above. :surprised:

    UPDATE:

So I played it for a bit to check it out. Still in the tutorial area I guess. About lvl 7 now.  So far it's not my cup of tea.

I do NOT like that little black thing that giggles constantly....hate it actually.  Is it there the whole damn game?? or just during the tutorial?  Graphics are good but not liking the overdone fighting animations.  A lot of stuff to learn....which is ok I dont mind that.  But overall I was like eh?

Tell me it gets better as I go along otherwise I spent a dinner on this game and I have no problem not playing it.

You should do what others on this site do.

Complain BEFORE buying and moan about it without actually playing. That way you could have saved a few pounds and still had the opportunity to complain.

You do know all that stuff you don't like could have been discovered with a minimal of effort?

IN any case the black spirit gets darker and "weirder" as the main story goes along. But it will always be there as you need to use it to enhance equipment.

You can turn down the "fighting effects" as well as the fighting effects of others. But they are always going to have the same animations.

And again, like I said "don't just level to 10" there is a lot to this game. level 7. Heck you are level 4 in the first few minutes.

In any case, I'm "getting" that this is a game you shouldn't have purchased so you might as well cut your losses.

Unfortunately the black spirit stays with you, it even grows as you progress through the story.
For the fighting animations, I find it better to scale down the screen shake (and another effects option I forgot the name, it's just below the screen shake option).

Overall the game is worth playing. Granted I've not played much sandbox MMOs (only AA and BDO in fact), but I feel BDO is a game that takes patience and effort, something not very common in modern MMOs.

Bottomline is, the game is definitely worth playing, but whether it's worth staying is up to personal tastes and preferences in the MMO genre.

The black spirit sometimes makes me smile, for instance when he gets his teeth.

And yeah, BDO is not a game you play solely to grind-level to max level. If you do that, you're missing 90% of the game.
Kind of, sort of, miss the 90% you like and in your view 10% sucks. The others like  90% of what they consider fun and 10% of what you like.

    The game is for everyone.

    It's a virtual world.

Right now is a good time to be there so enjoy the peace.

I can afford to lose the $29.99........that's not what I'm talking about.  Also Im not really "complaining" per say.

I saw good reviews and bad ones.  The only way to judge the authenticity of the reviews is to try the game.  So far.....and I say so far, as I have not given up yet.......it's not my style of game play.

I knew it being a conversion of a Korean game it will have so quarks that we in the US normally dont have in games.

This is not to detract others who are having a good time.  Im glad others like it.  Im going to give it a bit more time to see if it grows on me.  I owe it to myself and game to at least do that.

Just did that part a bit ago. I laughed out loud when he was like 'check out my teeth' . Creepy and adorable at the same time.

Anyways, I'm completely frakkin' lost. Level 14, and just exploring. Followed the quests to Velia and bought a fishing pole, fished for a minute, and gonna get back to whatever quests I have, but I keep goin off road because I see stuff that I like.

Loving the Wizard though. Chaining down 3 mobs at a time with lightning is great. Will probably have to watch some videos though, because I have no idea what nodes even are. XD

Never thought some connect the dots to sell your wares would interest people as an actual game. The nice touch is getting yourself a fake automated pumpkin farmer lmao.

For myself the game would offer up some entertainment.I would love to grab a beer, sit on the roadside and watch people as they try to connect further nodes then get killed by npc thieves.I could make up banners GO thieves GO and sell roadside mortuary services.I would absolutely love to walk up to some dead player laying on the ground ..."Having fun yet?".

Not sure I really understand your post. I found it hard to understand but if I do understand you correctly you sound really bitter for some reason.

Can you explain why you are bitter because I might get this game at some point and your opinion could sway me but just being better for no apparent reason is not helpful.

Oh, I'm not getting that you are complaining and yeah, 30 bucks is a non-factor as far as cost goes.

I'm just mentioning that some of the stuff you are pointing out are really front and center. I mean, it is a korean game. Still, you did say you bought it "sight unseen" so I suppose you really didn't see anything at all and just heard about it.

If you have a good computer set it to high end mode (it's a tick box) that pretty much solves that.

He seemed so happy when he finally got teeth :proud:

Also, when it initially gives you the combat animation options, I turned the first one to 0 and left the second one at 50%, and it's been great. I forget what it's called, but it gives you the option when you first make your character. I'm sure it's in the options somewhere.

I have to say that I'm glad that you are reporting back on the title as a sight unseen game. I myself played a little BETA and I can't say I hated the game, but I wanted to like it too. The time I had was very short and I almost hit lvl 20. So I'll keep an eye on your updates here to help sway me one way or the other and I assure you there are plenty of people keeping an eye on your opinions to help sway them as well. Keep the updates coming, I need a new something to keep me busy and from downloading another abandoned classic MMO.
