Yeah.... no.  NPC's still draw in from like 50ft away and you can see all kinds of ridiculous LOD popping all over the place.  Don't remember the last time I saw this kind of ridiculous LOD transition popping in a game.

Glad you bought the game. And I'm hoping it will grow on you one day.

One thing you might have experienced or should know is that this game isn't your traditional mmorpg. It isn't all about how high lvl your character is or the race to endgame isn't as you may think if you compare it to the usual World of Warcraft where your entire focus is racing through the low lvl content to get to the infamous endgame. Consisting of queuing for dungeons to get gear to do harder dungeons in order to gain access to raids and get gear to allow you to gain access to more raids. It isn't linear like that and puts back the social aspect of what MMORPG used to be that even World of Warcraft shared at one point before tossing it away for quick group finders and raidfinders that stopped people from interacting with one another and instead made people mindlessly queue up in their garrisons while picking their noses doing absolutely nothing, at least that's my experience in many mmorpgs not only WoW. BDO has done it differently if you ask me.

Simple things like having to meet up with a player personally in order to offer a guild invitation was refreshing. Made players less of a number added to your guild roster and more a person you meet and joins the crew. It also has a complex system to keep you entertained, going as far as distracting you entirely from the leveling process in order to explore the many avenues you have for crafting and merchandising. You can build a fishing boat and explore the ocean and find great fishing spots, even islands out at sea ripe for the taking for your future guild or your own personal home. Horses aren't things you summon from your crotch anymore and act as a living, breathing entity in the game that can be killed and stays put where you left it.

There is no quicktravel! The game may seem brutal but it makes traveling feel genuine and gives a true feeling of size to the world itself. Getting from point A and point B can be an adventure especially after lvl 45 where guildwars and banditry becomes a thing, where players can take on the role as villains on the roads. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely puts a smile on my face when I see more possible options for people to do in a MMORPG. Guilds too can grow only if you work as a team and go about doing those special guild missions to earn your guild funds to help expedite it's progress. It even goes as far as to allow full-scale wars with epic siege battles for guilds to enter in order to fight over territory that later on they can use for themselves to build on along with taxing the local populace - even the players

It's hard to put into words how excited I am to see what this game will be doing over the next months but there's all ready new classes coming along, new regions to explore in the future alikes of Valencia, mediah, elven regions & dwarven regions. Maybe one thing you'll notice straight away, it is a grind game. It takes time. It wants you to earn your keep and status, it isn't handed to you on a silver platter --with the likes of Vanilla WoW when you would actually salute a player after he reached a new level. Grinding is real. It isn't for everyone. Lots of people take it as first glance as a beautiful new game and forget it's a complex masterpiece that you shouldn't try and burn through unless you know what you're doing. Have fun, make friends, the game rewards you for grouping up and makes the grinding more tolerable. All in all, just take it easy. Let it in.

If you don't like it though then I don't blame you. I think it's a niche sort of game. Definitely demands a certain types of individuals I'd say

maybe I am on a to crowded server, if I tick the high end mode I get 20FPS and I have a R-380?

Interesting read, but you seemed to be talking more about WoW than BDO.

i am guessing you mean the r9 380, which is a mid range gpu, comes in 2 flavours i think 2gb and 4gb, it could be that you have the 2gb version.

Try disabling tesselation in your Catalyst Control Center.  I have read (on reddit, I think) that it can make a 30+ difference in frame rates for AMD users.  I haven't tried it myself yet, but I intend to when I get home from work.

Yeah i wouldn't use high end mode then even a 980 TI is struggling with it just leave it off.

High End mode is a must in this game. I use it even on my lap top, even though that means I have to use upscale for it to be playable. High End mode gives you INSANE view distance, and removes the pop up gfx.

I heard others say the flickering is irritating. Had someone send me there dxdiag file. Windows 8.1 has dx11 and sucks. It's buggy as hell IMO.  If you are running windows 8.1 upgrade and get dx 12 then the flicker, low frame rate will go away. (if you have better then dual core and a decent card)

I'm in Windows 7 64 bits, computer in my signature, I get no framerate or pop in problems.
You definitely don't need windows 10 and DX12 (which BDO isn't using anyway).
Windows 7 has dx 10 it is dx 11 that's the problem and is just a POS.

Thats what happens when the SUPPORT and FIXXES get shutdown for an unsupported OS .... ERRORs like this DX11 bla bla .... and its just getting more and more problematic each day ....

But yeah ... why not copy some same naming DX Files from one OS to the Other ... or use Drivers which are NOT for this OS Anymore .... the DEVs dont have error correction for such ideas ..... :) :)

AND what your missing is that your win7 config doesnt support ALL features from your CPU / Mainboard and so on ;)  ... yeah ... poweruser ;) ;)

    lol !!!

take this on a trial  xD !!!! pls ... lets get things right ... or lets just get weird ! :P

they use DX11.1 .... and the .1 stands for 2D Acceleration inside Windows Apps .... thats the MAIN reason ... and its a "Special Update" ... not a regular ..

with such hacks / copy and paste shit i even got my ATI 5870 Card to use PHYSX (8800gt as CO-Processor) XD !!

    For the doubters...
Humm.. Interesting. Maybe it is just 8.1 the person upgraded to 10 and it went away.

    Umm.....

Unsurprisingly they are also amusingly uninformed about various factors of all MS's OS's. :p

Sounds like your CPU and/or RAM. I have an R9 380 4 Gig, an i7 and 16 Gigs of RAM. Runs the game maxed with zero issues and high framerate.

Actually I have the same exact card that you have,  I do have a i5 I think it is a 3570 with 8 gigs of ram. I switched servers and that helped , I am now getting about 50fps. Something that is annoying is that I am getting a fan surge every 20 seconds or so, Since you have the same card what do you recommend , should I manually run the fan and at what speed?. Someone earlier mentioned I should put tessellation into "application use" instead of "AMD Optimize"  maybe I will try that

    UPDATE:

So I played it for a bit to check it out. Still in the tutorial area I guess. About lvl 7 now.  So far it's not my cup of tea.

I do NOT like that little black thing that giggles constantly....hate it actually.  Is it there the whole damn game?? or just during the tutorial?  Graphics are good but not liking the overdone fighting animations.  A lot of stuff to learn....which is ok I dont mind that.  But overall I was like eh?

Tell me it gets better as I go along otherwise I spent a dinner on this game and I have no problem not playing it.

At level 7 you've seen nothing of the scope of the game, the early game holds your hand quite a bit and the black spirit is incredibly annoying, but it does get better. After a while you will get a lot more freedom and the black spirit will stop pestering you all the time.

So far, for me, pve feels very easy, although the combat system seems to have potential, but what's more interesting is that there are lots of other things to play with, including crafting, fishing, building stuff, commerce, and so on. I think you can even breed horses. There's also the whole thing with nodes, renting houses and hiring workers, which I have barely touched upon.

Oh and there is also the whole system where you get friendly with NPCs and get new quests, through the conversation minigame. And you can also collect a bunch of knowledge if you explore carefully, which seems to unlock things too.

I think the easiest and best way to describe this game is MOST people like all the games before will eventually in a short time get bored with the game and it's cumbersome design.

People are going to read a lot and see all these systems "i love systems myself" and then start grinding countless hours into them. However in the end you'll stop and think  "what am i doing in this game?"

That is where you realize that you are just doing the same old same old but now your doing it with a MUCH more cumbersome system design/UI.Yes i love interactive combat,i like action and reactive systems but i do not like the way this game does it.I like systems but i don't want to click 50 menus to interact with them.

I think in short this game reminds me a lot of early FFXIV problems and is designed to copy typical Korean tropes, looks like copying TERA and Lineage, they don't seem to stray far from typical Korean game design.

Who hates hand holding and markers more than me?NOBODY yet guess what ,in this game everyone will be using the arrows/lights because the game is cumbersome in every fashion.I seriously would love to walk into their studio and ask who the people are in charge of UI systems and say "your fired".
Now in saying that,if my controller actually worked in this game,i MIGHT have a lot less disgust towards it UI and game..

I have my fan set to 50% did wonders. Yeah I set mine TS to 'application' I have found the AMD Optimized to not be very good on most newer games I play

    Thanks

OP you should easily get your money's worth. I like that it does have lots of interesting systems to play with but ultimately I felt that a lot of the complexity came from lack of info (even after watching many vids) and fighting the UI or just working out exactly how you need to do what you want to do. It is almost complexity for complexity sake.

I also felt a lot of things where essentially redundant. Fun to try but ultimately a waste of time, for example making extra money out of the trade network. I understand you can get 1.5 X (roughly) by sending stuff to the right place far away but it's more straight forward (profitable) to grind mobs (or even afk fish and go for a real life beer). Kinda the reverse of Elite Dangerous where trading was by far the most profitable activity at the start.

Still if you want to role play a trader taking stuff across the land in your trusty wagon and establishing your trade network then I am sure BDO excites a lot. (Though I still think that the systems will prove to be complex but with no real depth)

i found it it intresting but ultimately less fun than it might have been.

    Well............Im done.

Made it to lvl 20 and I have decided that I just do not like the game that much to sink my time into it.

I gave it a shot.  To those who are having a good time enjoy and have fun.
