I have a spare GT240 collecting dust on a shelf and I'm wondering if I could (should?) use it as Physx GPU in my system.
I'm asking because the Phenom 1090T is already an older CPU and games like Black Desert use quite a lot of Physx in their games...

Edit: Found an article which indicates fairly impressive results, even if it is a bit old.
And one which suggests it's not worth it.
A list of games which support hardware accelerated PhysX
If you don't play any of the games listed, then there's no point. I'll probably throw mine in next to my shiny new GT970 and run some benchmarks.
Okay, last edit, I swear! A list of supported games from Nvidia.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Not that all games who DO support nvidia actualy use it.
I play marvel heroes that uses nvidia physx.
I have a GTX780TI and a GTX570 for phyx
selected the 570 to only be for phyx.
and it still uses my cpu for it. (the on screen thingy and monotoring the gpu clock speed)
Just checked the BDO forums and from the looks of it not. Still, the other games I have that run PhysX might be worth it
Main reason it's not working is because the 200 series are no longer supported by nVidia drivers (400 series minimum) and I'd have to downgrade the drivers BIG TIME to get the GT240 recognized.
Secondly (and probably more importantly), I've read multiple reports of people complaining about the GT240 being a bottleneck for a GTX770/GTX780. The main card is so fast that it has to wait for the lot slower GT240 card. People advice when you are using such a card as main, just to let that one the PhysX.
Last but not least, the list posted earlier is not complete. A lot of current day engines have the PhysX SDK integrated and thus will support it natively (info PhysXinfo.com). Oddly enough, CryEngine is one of the 'big ones' not having PhysX integrated...
The number of games that actually have PhysX GPU support is... pretty small, and generally only gets there because nVidia paid (or otherwise enticed) the company to do so. From what I've gathered, those games will see some benefit from having a dedicated PhysX processor, and if you have it laying about then ok, but definitely don't go out and buy one for the express purpose because it isn't that much of an improvement.
