Free Fly Week until march 20

Hey Ladies and gents, there is another free fly week going on, where you can test out the game for free!

Until March 20.

Do note that this is still very much in Alpha, and while yes, there are plenty of things to do, there is also a lack in many of the future systems that will be part of the Player Universe.

This version includes some anti-griefing measures in that people who grief will be flagged as criminals and you can hunt them down for a nice temporary reward (a new gun!)

If you are confused and lost, don't forget to try out the Tutorial section of the Electronic Access, it should give you the know-how to at least fly your ship :pleased:

Friendly reminder: Don't forget to use a referral code when you register an account to try it out.. You have to apply it as you create your account.

Might be of interest that every single flyable ship is free to use for everyone during this event.  They want to collect balancing information from all ships being used.

Why does a game with 109+million with no release product need to drum up more interest? Can't CIG just make the game with what they have?

First it was a 6 ( ? ) million dollar vision, and he got 10 times that, so he says, "I will make you a 65 million dollar game!", then it was 90 million, and he says, "I will make you a 90 million dollar game!", then it was 108 million, and people say, "clearly he's making a 108 million dollar game!".

What the hell, logic, why hast thou forsaken thee? Can't the guy make a 70 million dollar game and make me shut the hell up?

To answer Adjuvant, this isn't abou drumming up more interest, it's about adding many more people to the server for a little while to test certain things, like server stability (stress test) or testing what ships need a balancing pass, etc.

It's like an open beta event yo

Because... the hundreds of thousands of people who already gifted them money aren't enough? What are you saying, exactly?

Also, remember, giving CIG money is a gift, not a purchase, not a pre-order, for those who might be confused.

Over a million backers and they dont have enough people playing alpha 2.2 to test things?  What does that say about the current state of that alpha?

    I'm a $60 Kickstarter backer.

I don't want to fuck around with an Alpha, it's hard enough finding the time to play  some really good finished games I have in my catalogue. Personally, I'll wait for release if and when that happens.

I imagine this is the case for many a backer.. they just wanted to get their "pre-order bonus" so to speak, and then they will come back when the game is in Beta or something..

This post is a false statement.

You cannot charge 'Value Added Tax' (VAT) on a 'gift'.
    CIG charges VAT.

I am sure there will be plenty of links to ships for sale before you can even get to the game or the download for the game.

So hilarous a game with all the supposed/alleged 'backers' cant get enough of those people into their test demo to stress test it.

Like I said in another thread the more I (dont) see from this game it doesnt pass the logic test and I think a lot of the numbers people have thrown out and people take as gospel are completely fabricated.

Look at the Division and BDO and the amount of players those two games had a couple weeks ago. granted it was a pre release situation but SC has 'raised' more money that those two games have made in sales combined, at least on the PC platform

As for the 'alpha 2.2' how long has it been 2.2 and how many free weekends have they given away? ARK has slowed their updates to a snails pace and they have updated their game probably 50 times since SC updated there the one and only time it has been updated. And ARK hasnt made anywhere near the money SC has made since then (roughly 20 million since it went to 2.2) So even if they were broke before then they have made enough to throw the demo a bone and update it a few times one would think.

How about getting at least 2.3 or more preferable a 3.0 version out and then see about stress testing it.

8 days on the live server for all players.

First 2.2 free fly weekend started yesterday. No other 2.2 FF until yesterday.

    Have fun

I'm not trying to lie. Where the vernacular once was "pre-order", it's been changed to "pledge", because there's a responsibility to deliver on "purchases or sales". I have no idea what they're doing across the pond in value added tax, I'm not familiar enough with that code to discuss it.

For months, the company has been skirting US laws by definition of "what is a purchase", "what is a donation", "what is a gift". In the USA, for example, gifts above a certain amount "are considered income", and thereby are taxable, however, of course, it does not carry the same premise, or gravity, as a "sale", wherein there is expected delivery and thus legal grounds for refund months, even years, after stated date of delivery. IF these are all "sales", then at the end of 2016, anyone and everyone who "bought" before the era of "manipulated delivery dates", would be fully eligible, by law, a refund.

Similarly, a "pledge" is not a "donation", because "donation" is mandated by state law and is subject specifically to the nature of the cause collecting said "donation". I'd imagine CIG would very much like to consider these pledges as donations, but it calls into obvious question definition of a "tax exempt entity", which CIG is not, nor could it hope to be.

The specific vernacular, now at least, is "pledge". A "pledge" carries the same legality as a "gift". I have no intention of lying to you, look for yourself.

There is a reason why charge backs for transaction made 24 months ago are going through. Credit card companies are looking at the transaction going through their system as a 'Sale'.
CIG has not challenged that. It'll be hilariously funny if they did cause that is one Pandora box that I would love to see opened.

CIG can say whatever they want on what they are selling. The argument will be between CIG and the tax department if there is a disagreement.
Credit card companies however is seeing the actual transaction as a 'sale' transaction.

I don't know what's "going through". I hope they're "going through". I don't know how CC companies see this. I know, because of the volume, it's under not only scrutiny but investigation. I don't know if there will be an "argument" between CIG and the IRS. If there were to be an issue, they would know it before I do.

If there's an issue of false advertisement, that's decided by the FTC. If the insiders are minting and divvying their own "shares" of "investments" in a 100 million dollar company, without regulation, that's in the range of the SEC. ( also pump and dump, but that's rarely apparent before the actual fact)  I can't comment on anything else.

I am pretty sure CiG's legal team is all over this sort of stuff.. I know that there is a section in their terms and conditions about what it means to pledge, and so on.  What's for sure is that you are not buying a ship as such, but rather getting a ship in return for your pledge. What that actually means is beyond me!

The funny part of all this is how these people think he actually has 100m, 109m whatever left. The guy already said he has to have 3.2m to come in every month to keep the company running. I really believe majority of the money is already gone. Just looking at what he created in different companies all over the world didn't cost him peanuts. One day this will all come to light and I see a lot of people are going to go into shock at how much he blew. I mean we already see how much he wasted on SM and the company that made SM looks better than anything they made with SC. Yet he SM is now gone.

On paper, it's an interest free loan on the condition CIG will perform the service which is to build a video game, which will take an indeterminable amount of time, with whatever set of features provided they don't become in the realm of inconvenience or impossibility. In court, that has the same value as "a gift".

My opinion is that it's not gone, it's just that they arent spending extra money on it in a dedicated when they can have it all smoothed out in the PU, in the same way ship stuff is being done in the PU and then put in AC for amusement purposes

Seems people are starting to wake up.

    https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/322073/the-wisdom-of-quitting

I think SC is finally getting to the "jumping the shark" yet it never released and ran like most TV series that ran and finally lost steam.

Makes perfect sense why they opened the doors to another free weekend.

It is a two sided sword when they do this, it runs so bad, people will laugh and not put any money into it. You may have a few that think the game will release next year and will throw 50 bucks at it. Yet i do believe the money is going to slow up big time and we will finally see how much CR has either saved by being a great businessman. Or blew and has to close up shop. We may be getting close to the end folks.

What 'loan'? What 'paper'? WTF is this post?
CIG promised a list of features to deliver at various times throughout the years. They haven't delivered and the delivery date has moved a lot throughout. Which is why Credit Card companies are granting Charge Backs against CIG.

    I'm not lying.

edit: You give CIG property, in the form of currency, in a "pledge". There is a contract understood by both parties this pledge is for the purpose of future service rendered, in this case "building a video game". You do not "buy" spaceships, you pay CIG to make spaceships for people to play with, and CIG, as a generous "thank you", allots you some amount of recreational use within that virtual property. No one is "purchasing" a game. As a matter of fact, "pledging" allows one to forego the product "cost" whenever there is a product.

edit 2: Forget the links, they're patronizing.

edit 3: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/tos/10 read section VII. It is a deposit to be used to build the game. It is not a purchase transaction.

edit 4: Notice the difference in language in IX. Physical merchandise is "purchased".

I don't know why you're fighting me over it. I think it's an abomination, myself, but this is the agreement to which the transaction applies. I'm not interested in "having one over on you", because I appreciate the time you've spent helping people, who were misunderstanding or were within refund parameters, get those refunds. I didn't make up this process, I don't like this process.

edit 5: Before I go to sleep, I want to say I know the ToS has changed over the years. I've cited changes, Brenic has cited changes, other people have cited changes. All we get here is insults from people and "LOLs" credit from Erillion. It's a flippin shadester company, man. Why do you think I'm so adamant about exposing each and every lie, change, discrepancy, etc? People need to wake up to the bullshit.

Also keep in mind the Game has been in development for 4 years 3 months, has gotten over 110 million in funding, has had up to 500 people working on it at any given time, passed its release date by 15 months, has nothing finished (as stated by the company and dev), would not be considered to be in alpha (as stated by CIG).

How can it pass it's release date when it has no set release date or publisher forcing a release before it is done?

I sense a bitterness in the force!

Ah I see you are ignorant of CIG and SC's history.   You should really do just a little bit of research before talking dribble.   It will do you some good to do some reading.
