ASTA NOT just another free to play

FellintentFellintent Member UncommonPosts: 13
I was hoping to encourage other people to give the new ASTA open beta a try.  I'm in no way connected to Webzen and honestly alot of their other titles are horrible in my opinion.  I really had very low expectations from ASTA and I will even admit to not being a fan of the medieval Chinese look and setting of the game.  I really only tried it because like alot of younger people I don't have alot of excess money laying around to go and buy new games all the time.  I have enjoyed playing so much however that I did what I almost never do and even spent ten dollars in the ingame store.  I really want to encourage others here to try and give it a non biased go.  I am finding myself almost enjoying it as much as I did when I started playing Vanilla WoW.  I literally have no idea what happened when they were making this game but it's seriously quality in my opinion and it's still only in open beta.  I want it to at least get a fair shot so if you find yourself without a game you're really into, give ASTA a shot.

man, I'm getting really tempted to give this a shot, I'm really loving BDO and its really sucking up my time but I've heard a lot of good things about this game and would love to play something wow like but not wow,  I've watched a few youtube videos of gameplay and it looks pretty decent.    may just have to break down and check it out.   is this game going to be free to play when it releases?

I was looking forward to giving it a try again but they IP blocked me. I think it is a decent WoW clone though. I'd recommend it as a F2P game worth trying.

Nice game but beware of webzen unless they  do a wipe and a live launch the game population will not grow not many peop;le knew about the game some people rushed for the competition some didn't so the low population the game had got split up the events are mainly split by level range as well.

People got to end game complaining there is nothing to do well a game that needs players to do some of the content what do you expect i don't know what people were thinking on first day of beta but there wasn't many people playing i couldn't even be bothered leveling up i went to go watch people on twitch becauase i so no one around and no one spoke.

The raid boss event  never got killed once when i made a character on the Ora fasction on the Us server this event gets split by level range so people at different levels will turn up to a differetnt both like a level 35 will turn up to a different boss event than a level 15 and they are intanced so you can't get other people to help out of the level range.

I had veen watching streaming someone who was Ora faction on US i sometimes felt bad going into his stream because i was talking about my character on Ora faction EU and doing dungeons and collecting certain pieces of gear while he wented in dungeons finder for hours and nothing happening.

I feel like Webzen are just putting as little efect into running this game as possible the guides on their website for the game are still not complete the state they are in now is the same as when i found the game at end of december seriously can't they pay someone to do the guides just knowing they are not really trying to solve the problems was enough for me to walk away if i don't see a company showing care with their product i leave.

Is content still beinf created for the games that Webzen publish ?

I am starting to think this is where mmorpg's come to die and i wondered if that is why they no longer have Allods because they are actually still making content for that game.

C9 is Webzen and it gets updates. So has ELOA. Age of Wulin just released an update, Chapter 8, which was in the news here on this site. So I think ASTA will receive love but without players what will it matter. =/
ok because i have heard of some of the games they have i know they are quite old like Flyff and Rapplez i don't really know any of the other likes C9 never heard of it i have heard of age of wulin because i think that was gpotato but don't know much about it because i said to myself i wouldn't touch another gpotato game after Allods.

I can tell now that you don't play on Ora faction but i agree webzen needs to do something or why bother playing if people are thinking of waiting it out that will not solve anything so i have stopped playing for now not going to waste my time if they fix the problems i will come back until i have been looking at Riders of The Icarus because i am without a game again. lol

I will say if you are going to play the game don't spend a thing and you don't actually have to pay anything you can play the game and enjoy it to end game without spending a thing but if you are leveling you will probably find the game very quiet loads of people have already left i stuck it out for 8 days the population was too low for the game.

What game are you comparing it to? most games have low medium population anymore, unless you compare it to WoW. I don't play ASTA, but it looks and sounds better than most garbage i've seen lately.

the game is actually good and that is why i am annoyed at webzen the events are split up by level range the servers have really low population and i mean low especially for a game that just went into open beta i made a character on Ora faction on the US server i turned up to do the event boss every time it started and it never got killed once loqads of people have already left because odf the population problem some if their own fault for rushing to endgame i was also trying to give artifact gear wihich is the best gear you can get from the dungeon i was farming the only better gear is unique i got bored linking it in chat trying to give it away for free i ended up dismantling it.

From watching streams and seeing different guilds and how many members are in them and from what i have seen from playing the game i wpould guess there is only about max and this is being generous maybe 1k but that is for both servers put together NA/EU then you have to split them up again because of having 2 factions.

I was in 2 guilds one on EU and one on NA and both of them had pages of people who had not logged in for days and same when i looked at guilds what other people were in while they streamed the guild i was in on US server had 100 members the most i saw on at one time was 11.

People joined the game at different times and people got split up the world is big i used to go back and help low level players in the beginner areas i didn't see anyone else my level in them areas at all i spent all day once doing treasure hunting and helping new players with public events, buffing them and giving them free items.

I am waiting for MMORPG's review and just hope Webzen fixes the problems but i doubt Webzen will.

If a member of staff from MMORPG see this have you started a review of this game yet ?

I have just been watching another stream on twitch of some people starting Asu side on the US server thought i would try and help them a bit and i saw the faction chat and it was disgusting can't say i saw that on the Ora side i wonder if the game is already starting to create a bad community vibe.

If they do not plan to I will do one.
    Can't wait!!
So little info on the game and not everyone wants to dedicate a week to playing in order figure out if the game is right for him.
I would also love to see a well rounded class overview.

So it's not just me that thinks MMOs today don't have as many players as they did three-five years ago?

I am guessing there is only about 1k players total on both server but that is being generous i actually think there is only like 500 i forgot to say i was watching the final of the guild wars on EU server it was Resonace guild against Insane guild the person streaming was in Resonace guild which is No.1 guild on Asu faction on EU server they didn't even have a full raid they only had like 16 people turn up and this is supposed to be more popular than the US server actually there is American players on EU that is how bad the US server is.

I see no one is mentioning the pvp problem either i can't comment because i didn't get that far but lets say when the publisher is trying to get people to stop doing pvp in a game that has open world pvp then you know there is a problem.

So if you are going on the US server it's either join Asu which i have heard is toxic and from seeing faction chat on stream it seems what people were saying was right or Ora which is so underpopulated you may aswell just play a single player game because that is what you will be doing mostly while leveling up and events on that sever forgot it i never saw the raid boss get killed once and i turned up to everyone for 3 days but if you really want to try the game i would go EU server it seems better over there.

Qeon Interactive's website says nothing about what Webzen are doing, all it has information about is what they are doing. So i'm not sure why you're questioning me.. Yes I have heard of mmo's being released differently for different parts of the world which is why I wanted to verify. I've also heard of people stealing mmo's and releasing them as a private server and reaping profit.

i downloaded it last night and played a bit, the actual gameplay was ok for what little i did but the english translations are the worst I've ever seen on a ported game.  seriously, there were some that were so jumbled and broken that I couldn't figure out what they were trying to say.  I plan to still play some and get a better feel for the gameplay but I am one of those odd people that actually reads quest dialogue when i play and , unless it gets better, I may have to take a pass on this one.

I played last night as a Draco warrior.  The game's art style reminds me of a mix of Aion and Wildstar/Wow.  I actually think they did a good job with it for what it is.  The game is very much gameplay wise similar to WoW.  I think the game has potential and I will probably play a bit more just to see if it hooks me.  But, I have so many new games I'm trying to play at the same time I'm not sure I will commit to this game tbh.  But, still glad I tried it.

MrMel and anyone else that's interested I'm currently playing an Ora human Archer named Blitzt currently only lvl 17 because like in so many other games I've started several alts lol.  I'm glad that at least one person was willing to try the game because of my post.  I will admit to getting a familiar vibe from ASTA as when I started Aion when it launched.  I also finally got some money together and bought Black Desert online but so far I haven't really been enjoying it as much as ASTA.  I think it might be Black Deserts gender locked classes.  Maybe I'm in the minority but I cannot play a female toon.  I just think I need to be able to identify with characters I create and as a male I haven't been able to get past not being able to play female characters.  I'm sure it's my loss and I wish it wasn't the case but alot of my other friends feel the same way in that they very much prefer to play games that aren't gender locked.

Anywho thanks everyone for posting.  I'm grateful to everyone for your opinions and insight.  Hopefully Webzen will get around to actually doing some interviews or promotional stuff if not it would be awesome if someone here had some spare time to write a review of the game.  I'd be happy to help but I don't have the time to undertake it by myself and even though I'm very capable of writing, I haven't done any extensive game reviews and I'd be afraid I wouldn't do it much justice.  Hope to see some of you all in game :)
