I never know what to focus on... there's so many quests, so many new places to explore, so many different systems to learn, so many professions to focus on.. yet sometimes I end up just staring at how beautiful the world is... loving it

I'm feel very fortunate as it turns out BDO is the game I've been waiting on for a long time.  The only thing I've found lacking in BDO is the lack of armor variety but the game is so good that it can be easily overlooked. AFAIC, its going to be hard for any other group of developers to improve on the AAA features that BDO offers.  I hope its not the case but something tells me this may be the last quality AAA MMORPG we see in a good long while.

I got the game out of boredom.  Watched it as it was being developed and wasn't really that interested.  Had incredibly low expectations.

    I was wrong.

This is a very good game, that offers a ton of stuff for a wide range of playstyles.

My expectation were way exceeded, I'm simply blown away.

Edit:  This is the most RPG I've experienced in an MMORPG.  Truly immersive, and feels like I'm playing a roleplaying game, not just an MMO.

exactly, I wasnt even hyped to play this and now it's easily one of my favorites MMO's of all time... the attention to detail, the well made world and how free you are to choose what to focus on is what makes this be on par even with AAA single player titles (which is saying a lot about an MMO)... truly impressed and glad I decided to get this

    Indeed.

I find myself intentionally doing things on the other side of the map just so I have to ride my horse more.  Not just any horse, a t2 horse instead of the t3 horse I got for buying the game; just because I breed him and his pelt isn't common.

I've never been so involved before since EQ2 release. I certainly hope they keep going this direction. Just so much to do I have forgotten about the next level as it just s not my focus anymore. First MMO in a long time that has done that.

The learning of the system mechanics through the game play make it worth tolerating PvP.

One word of caution though, this game is very RNG intensive, enchanting, crafting, grinding, everything.
Soon you will find yourselves making blood sacrifices to the RNG gods for a favorable roll of the dice.

Just so it doesnt involve extensive cash shop purchases.

That is always typical of these eastern games.

I like the challenge of making it there as long as the journey keeps me entertained.

This is the most mmorpg (Probably the first for me) that I'm in no rush to reach endgame.

There's so much to do, it's amazing.

If anything it actually increases cash shop purchases.

For instance, there are premium items that help enchanting in various ways, so it will be less costly when RNG fail you. There are also premium items that boost one's item drop rate in various ways, so grinding is more "lucky". The former is not tradeable via the broker, the latter (one of those items at least) is, and it's constantly in demand.

But then again, while the RNG is my biggest distaste for this game, it doesn't hurt the game experience so much as to ruin it. Also, it is rare to see any MMO that doesn't rely heavily on RNG nowadays. So overall BDO, although not without flaws, is still a good game to enjoy.

Wait which premium items help with enchanting? Wouldn't mind one of those

yep, i almost wish i could turn leveling off completely until I'm ready to move on.  so many systems i want to learn.

The only downside I've had,  so far,  is that with doing everything (all the crafting, fishing, exploring, trading, etc)  is that I am always almost out of inventory space!

I'm not super concerned about the heavy RNG for high end gear.  I pretty much accept that I may never have high end , enchanted gear.  and yes, I know I won't stand a chance in pvp against those that do.  but I intend to continue doing what I'm doing now post lvl 45.  I will flag for pvp and deal with the ganking while I continue to explore and fish :)

An item called "Artisan's memory", it increases the recovery amount of maximum durability, so enchantment failures will be less costly to recover from. This is because at high levels where people transition to boss gears (Kzarka/Louver for example), it becomes extremely costly to repair their maximum durability. To illustrate, repairing 10 durability of a normal weapon only involves the base cost of that weapon (100-200k via broker). To repair a boss gear, you either use another piece of the boss gear (15-45m via broker, repairs 10 points), or use something called fragments of memory (500k via broker, repairs 1 point each).

I am doing some of the quests because they reward you with inventory slots but I'm only lvl 12 so far and I am in no rush to reach endgame.

If I could manage to play Archeage for over 6 months with barely pvping I'm sure I can have quite a lot of fun in this game before reaching lvl 45.

i wouldnt say its complicated ( EvE is complicated), i would say its unintuitively implemented and horrendously explained.
most things are not all that hard once you've figured how it works.....and by then, you just scratch your head and ask yourself "how can something so simple be made so hard to understand?".....needless artificial complications.

despite that, i am enjoying it as well for the most part.

I disagree with the horrendously explained part.  Only because I spent all morning doing quests for things I had already started doing.  One quest lead me to almost a dozen other quests that were tutorials on everything from mining, to setting up production in a town.  Hovering over the quest gave me a step by step instruction on doing everything I needed, right down to hiring a worker and having him farm potatoes for me, and setting up a refinery in a town to produce black powder or whatever it is you need to craft most stuff.

I'd been playing a week before I came across these quests.

Unintuitive yes, but only because it's things that we're familiar with from other MMO's that are done differently.

I've had a lot of face palming moments.  Like when I realized I was doing conversations wrong; such a simple thing to overlook I felt stupid for having not realized it.  It would have bit me if it was a snake.

From what I can see looking over the cash shop such an item does not exist. It would be unfortunate to see this added next to RNG boxes but I recall them removing such P2W items prior to launch. In the case I am blind and do not see it I apologize, but taking the time to confirm whether NA has such an item before assuming things based of KR/JP versions of the game would be appreciated.

The NA/EU version does not sell the items to help with enchanting in the cash shop and no items from the cash shop can be traded in game.

Also the "luck" items mentioned are in the cash shop, but it is relatively easy to get the max for this stat (+5) just through in game means.
