Major tech problems

I have really enjoyed this game, and everything about it.  I think turbine did an excellent job making this game but I've been having troubles running it.  Here are my major problems, the others I need'nt worry about as they are very minor.  (I have tried reinstalling to fix these problems)

1.  Low graphics setting problem-  This ones a big one, and I think it would help with some of the other problems.  Well, when I put my game on anything below the high graphics setting, all character models turn into blobs, and I can't see most walls.

2.  EXTREME lag-  I get extreme lag when playing, and my latency is very good (60-90 usually).  I think this would be fixed if problem 1 one was fixed.

3.  Invisible water-  I can't seem to see water!  This is very annoying but I don't think it matters very much. (At first I thought the water was invisible because it was some kind of trap lol)

Well if anyone has had these problems before, or if they know how to fix them, I'd greatly appreciate any answers.  Thanks alot

The lag problem was reported by many in beta, Turbine wouldn't comment on it and apparently didn't care to fix it.

    Not a terribly helpful answer...

Zei, what are your system specs and graphics card?  I play the game on two boxes, both with ATI cards, and am not seeing any problems.

My desktop is an older AMD3000+ with a gig of RAM and an ATI x800/256meg card.  My laptop is an AMD64 4000 with a gig of RAM and an ATI Mobility x600/128meg.

Try hitting the "default" button on the options page...  you might have something set incorrectly in the advanced graphics tab.

*EDIT*  One thing I've noticed on the laptop is that when I change instances, my framerate takes a huge hit until I hit alt-enter a couple times to toggle it from fullscreen to windowed and back...  I THINK that forces it to unload all the old textures and reload the new ones.  It seems to help, anyway.  I don't have to do it on the desktop.  I run "medium" graphics on the laptop and "high" on the desktop.  That 128megs of video RAM is pushing the bottom edge, I think.

I don't play DDO because of the lag issue. But I've been following the problem on the DDO forums. It seems yesterdays patch should have fixed the lag. That isn't the first time Turbine claimed to fix it though, so I'm highly doubtful.

Hard to give a helpful answer when there is no solution yet because Turbine pushed it out with a reasonable amount of foreknowledge to fix it before release. Until they fix the issue there is nothing anyone can do.

I haven't experienced issue 1 or 3, but I think issue 2 (lag) is experienced by many players.  I know it's experienced by two other players I know from other games.  I run Battlefield 2 and World of Warcraft with less lag.  I think it's a programming issue that seems to pause the client while loading data in a progressive manner.  I'm no expert, so my opinion is just that.

    It's not just you.
