Allright, this slowly starts looking like serious business =)

PS I'd suggest Jeromy to maybe sit or change a pose or camera angle, or otehrwise do something different with his hands!?

This has me genuinely excited... Could this be the game we've all been waiting for?

No because theyre relying on a gimmick. The whole perma death thing is a complete gimmick.

Just make a game people will play and call it good. forget forced PvP, forget gimmicky nonsense. Just make a PvE game with some intriguing PvP elements to it and if everything else 'works' people will play it.

Every game now is just trying to do something they think will work, but it wont. Forced PvP has never and will never work. BDO the newest thing will suffer greatly once people see how limited PvE is. No surprise they already announced that the next major update will be focusing on PvE. Whether it releases before the mass exodus is the only mystery. But even BDO is semi fake simply because I would say more than half the population in that game is AFK most of the time. So while it seems like numbers are holding its mostly because they dont kick people who are AFK (encourage it actually) and as long as servers stay up (apparent) populations look strong. So BDO has their own gimmicks.

No game will be the one people are waiting for until one actually proves itself. Which this one certainly has not considering its been the talk of this site for over a year and they are still a month away from the kickstarter.

For a game that has supposedly been getting worked on for about 15 years thats not a great sign. I would say another red flag was that in all that time they couldnt find any other investors (which I am certain they tried to do) so now as a seeming last resort they are going the kickstarter route. I am sure the same catch phrases will be used as the reasoning...independent control, lack or answering to investors bla bla bla bla bla. But in reality it just means they couldnt get the money any place else. But they started throwing around the kickstarter idea late last summer and it sill took them 8 or 9 month before they pulled the trigger.

So while everyone is in love with what they have seen plastered all over this site the last year or so people should remember (or become informed) that much of that stuff was probably created years ago, and maybe even as long as a decade ago. But was released and posted here to help get the hype train wheels spinning.

Obviously everyone wants a game that says and presumably does all the right things to be the 'next big thing' problem is that is unlikely to ever happen because that game will take a lot of money and ALL the money will be needed to go INTO the game not into offices or coffee makers or murals or whatever other nonsense people who gain access to mega bucks overnight feel they can afford.

Until some savant with a mom that is trustworthy enough to hold the money comes along, no game will ever be made that will live up to the expectations.

3-4 months after I wrote it the first time I still don't get the hype. I am glad that people have something to look forward to but when I research this game trying to get hyped I just don't get it. A bunch of ideas that we have seen so many times before on paper. But we'll see. I hope they spend time programming the game and not programming stuff that will make the hype score here to go up. :P
