imageDaum Polling Players On Auto-Path Looping Feature

The Daum team has a new poll running to see if players are interested in seeing an "auto-path looping" feature added to the game that would allow them to set a series of destinations on the map that could be followed repeatedly. A special option to have a horse "auto eat carrots" can also be added to keep stamina level. Essentially, this allows for AFK travel around set paths.

Sounds like a step in the direction of afk macroing that was used to level skills in Darkfall. What's next, automated combat?

The reason why it was originally added into the game (whether one agrees with it or not) is that actual running levels one's stamina. They incorporated it to help players catch up.

In truth I don't really know if it's that necessary but that's my opinion.

However, I would think that anyone "auto pathing" would be subject to attacks from other players so I'm not so sure why anyone would actually do it.

Will probably add more content to the game in terms of ganking autopathing players similar to EVE online ganking autopiloting industirals while also allowing players to break the tedium of long distance travel for an appropriate risk.

Definately a good idea to add imo.

For me i woudln't mind seeing it added, given the importance of horse levels in this game for breeding purposes when you consider that 1 level alone can take as much as 50 hours active riding then the option like fishing to afk on a circle  is fine, but as people have said its not any different than EvE autopilot and ofc it puts you at the will of the PKers etc, so in fact puts you at risk. so +1 from me

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

Assuming that auto-pathing is primarily intended for stamina levelling and thus that's what players will primarily use it for, can't a player just... like, auto-path in circles in town or something?   Or is the stamina exp only granted for travelling to an entirely new locale?

It's my understanding that the current implementation of auto-pathing only works "one way" and does not level stamina.

Hmm, well okay.  I'm not sure it should be called an auto-path "looping" feature in that case though.  Since looping implies going in a... well, loop.

I think it has more to do with the fact that leveling horses takes HOURS .. and when I say HOURS .. I mean HOURS .. and you have to have multiple horses at max level to create a horse at a different tier to then pray to god that the RNGjesus is going to give you the correct skills.

I have friends who are huge into breeding and they really can't even grind much, because they are out riding their horses from one edge of the map to the other for hours trying to level them.

Its just a quality of life adjustment, it doesn't make you invulnerable .. it just makes it so instead of you having to manually click the point again once you hit the end .. it just does it for you.

PS - All mammals have nipples.

    Get over it already.

Well, assuming it does level stamina, and it can either be used in town or if the risk of being PK'd isn't a very big deal anyways (like say, using it when you just gained a level and thus have no experience to lose anyways), I wonder if this is one of the reasons why horse breeding is so... not-profitable in Korea anymore (last I heard, anyways) due to how easy it is to level up horses with this feature.

Well, that's the thing, this "new" feature is on a loop. Currently it's just going from one point to another and doesn't level stamina.

The feature they are voting on would allow you to place path points (or whatever they are called) and allow for you to loop and to level your stamina.

But yeah, I think one would just be pk'ed as they are going by.

I'm not a huge fan of systems that allow stat increases while not actually playing the game .  but that's just me, I like the slower pace to get things done, I like having a sense of accomplishment that i put the time and effort to get a high tier horse (for example) without just having it handed to me.  there are already too many of these instant gratification games out there. would be nice if one would stay as a little more time consuming to get the better stuff.

and before you say it, I know its an optional system and I won't use it if its implemented .  but it seems like a slippery slope to more systems switching to a similar "the game plays itself for you"  .

It only distance travelled and runnign in circle is (im led to believe) only counted for one cycle. so yep you have to run from point A > B > C > D > A etc.... now how long that route is will bne the key, because if ytou can route path in a city / town then it becomes fully safe as you cannot be attacked in town

For me i will only use it for horse levelling but i would probably be against the automatic carrot feeding at least then there is a physical limit on amoutn of time you can autopath.

Everyone keeps citing PK'ing as a deterrent. I'm waiting on the ninja class to play so forgive the ignorance, but, do you actually lose anything when a player kills you?

If not, then who cares? It's a minor inconvenience, but hardly a reason to keep people from macroing. What's the incentive for PK'ers to kill macro'ers? They don't get loot right? Why waste rep on some random dude levelinghis horse afk?

It's my understanding that if you are at war you will not lose xp and if you are flagged for pvp then you will not lose xp.

If you are not flagged then you will lose some xp but they will incur karma.

Don't like this idea though most people voted with YES in BDO Forum. Many players will be fooled if DAUM is implementing that feature. I prefere trueley earned skills by being an active player. AFK skilling is still strange for me and tastes a bit like Pay2Win.

but it's not pay to win as everyone would get the feature.

I can see for horses but I don't really like this for one's character.

I don't care for AFK features period so it goes without saying I don't care for auto-pathing.  That said, this is like the music industry's fight against pirated music, players are going to find a way to do it regardless.  The only positive I see behind it is it will be easier to breed higher tier horses making them less expensive for the rest of us who may want to buy them.

There's already a thread on their forums talking about remapping AWD to the numeric keypad and using NumLock to allow you to run in circles inside your house. So, yeah it's already being done for some things.

No doubt Daum is aware.  Hence, they may as well offer it and attain some positive customer service capital out of it.  I wouldn't put it past them.  They seem to be quite calculating and astute with the way they are handling BDO.  I'm impressed so far.  How they handle the PvE vs PvP outcry on the forums will be the ultimate test though.  Should be interesting.

Game needs to have auto-pathing looping in order to get higher tiered horses. I voted YES @ the site.
