The Saga of Lucimia team conducted an internal test of the alpha version of the game. To show early access backers what they will be getting their hands on beginning April 30th, the team released a 2.5 minute long video to show off new facets of the game.     Because we're a first-person MMORPG, similar to Elder Scrolls in that sense. While there is third-person POV, it's related to a skill that players have to level up in order to use.

    Yes....clearly the name of a test character created for quick use in an alpha test is basis of "how far the genre has fallen".

    And that's only about 15% of what we've got to show people in the April 30th build. There's sooooooo much more we're not releasing yet to the public because we want them to have fun, discover things organically, and be surprised. 

    We're still in early alpha, but the core basics of things are pretty much there now. We've got some more backend work to do after the April 30th build, but once that's done, we're getting into the finalized combat, skills, and other systems. 

    This summer's gonna be a blast!

    Well that was a nice little video. It was funny to see the mages go in for melee against the boar.

    Indeed; since we're running with a skill-based game, and magic is only available via Relic gear, the vast majority of Scholars will in fact be heavily involved in melee combat, at least in the early months of the game until they start earning gear with magical abilities. 

    But even then, with magic being a fleeting resource and items having limited charges, they'll still be doing a lot of melee and only saving spells for those "holy crap balls" moments in combat. 

    This is still *very early* alpha combat, without finished animations, or finished character models, or finished spell effects, and yada yada yada.

    Just sharing our progress with folks :)

    I am just glad the April fools joke email newsletter you sent us was not true! I was worried lol Open World PvP and a cash shop I was like what?! I sent it to Suzie here at the site and she thought it was just an April fool's joke as well =) Well Played sir. Well played.

    I received around half a dozen upset emails from people who were freaking out until they realized the date :) 

    Aye, we showed up here and at Massively in their April Fool's listings. 

    We even got two of our team members who were in panic mode after they read the headline...until they realized it was April 1st.

    the game looks a lot like Mortal Online, when I watch this video all I can think is Mortal Online all over again

    I hope its good though, will keep watching all your videos / posts about game

    I don't mean to sound snarky, but you need a pr guy. Responding so many times in one thread is reminiscent of some Greedmonger Jr.

    At least you identify yourself as being involved with the project, though. Points for that.

    I try to answer every single person at every community site around the web. Usually takes up 4-6 hours a day of my time. 

    Read through any of our interviews with MMORPG.com, Dungeon Crawler Network, Theory Forge, and beyond, and you'll find the one thing that people mention about us over and over is our community outreach and dedication to communication with the community. 

    Good or bad, I'll generally talk to anyone about our game, regardless of what connections others might draw :) 

    We own our own company, we own our own game, and we ARE the community, alongside our players. You won't EVER find us hiding behind some form of PR person or public relations team. It's always us, all the time. 

    Leading by example :) We want people to be invested in our community, and the only way to do that is by getting out there and showing people that we're just as invested in the community, be they positive or negative comments about what we're building.

    We're on the same page :) That's one of the reasons we are enforcing the fantasy names so that we can have a return to what the MMORPG genre SHOULD be about, and what it WAS all about back in the golden days of the first generation, when players gave a shit about lore, about immersion, about roleplaying, about being part of a community, about challenge, about exploration, and more than single serving questlines and instant gratification

    The only similarity is first person perspective. Our combat system is not action combat like elder scrolls or darkfall or mortal online; it's actually like Everquest or Vanguard. We have auto attack and skills to use on a hotbar with cooldowns. Combat is actually somewhat slower with reactive changes and strategic use of skills.
