imageFree Content Expansion Teased

The Grim Dawn team is teasing its players with a forthcoming, free content expansion coming sometime in the near future. The forum post indicates that it should arrive later this month and is packed with lore for those who love the back story. "As Cairn crumbles, something stirs..."

Other developers should really take a look at how well this company has kept their customer base informed and happy. They delivered a very well put together game in a timely manner and always posted what was going on in the development cycle. And are now looking to add more content to the game for free, not a paid DLC, free. Let that sink in, a time when companies are releasing games with paid DLC the day of release they are giving it away. I applaud this company and have enjoyed many hours playing their game, as well as their other game before this one.

Wonder if you ally with the Witch Gods faction (or three, though they might all just be one faction) or if they're the new villains of the expansion or if you have a choice. The article seems to imply they're the villains at first, but the end of the article might be interpreted as you becoming an ally.

Unlike the Cthonians of which there's no way to be a Cthonian player, there's actually an entire mastery that relies on the witch gods for power (Occultist, of which half the skills derive power from one of the witch gods). Basically practically any player occultist is a follower of the witch god(s), right? It'd seem odd to have the Witch gods as defacto villains in that case.

Regardless, I'm very happy to see more upcoming content.

I kinda wish I could support them with money for this free expansion in some way.  The game is buy-to-play playable-offline with NO cash shop whatsoever (as expected for a game where all your data is saved on your computer) with no paid DLC (besides the founders gifts).  So they're basically spending time and resources on this content expansion for absolutely no revenue whatsoever.  AT ALL.  I mean, I guess it might encourage more people to buy the game if they haven't already but that's about it.

I don't think they're doing this work for no revenue what-so-ever. I haven't bought the game yet, although it's on my wishlist, and it certainly provides incentive to bump it up the chain a little more. There is a lot to appreciate about this game and its dev approach.
I admit I also have never tried the game. This game somehow slipped through the cracks and has never been on my radar.

Really cannot recommend Grim strongly enough ... I play D3 ,Grim, and POE  Like them all for different reasons  .. But Grim actually hits a sweet between POE theory craft and depth and D3 action .. sweet game

If you are an ARPG fan or liked titan quest then this game is for you.   I think it is around $25 on steam, well worth that for the amount of time you can invest in the game.  I believe I actually saw it on sale not to long ago also, so put it on your watchlist if you don't want to spend that much on it.

It's doesn't feel so over whelming or feel punished like PoE. I played PoE before D3, I could never get into D3 every time I try.

Love this game, got over 115 hours in so far, still not at max level in Ultimate. Never really been into ARPG's but enjoyed PoE for a while, that got samey pretty quick though. While the environments in Grim Dawn aren't that varied it feels bigger and the third playthrough (Normal > Elite >Ultimate) still feels fresh, didn't get that far with PoE, couldn't face playing through the same content again. GD gives me a real sense of exploration, plenty of hidden areas and objects and the progression in difficulty keeps me on my toes.

I paid just under £15 for it during a Steam sale, at it's £19.99 full price it's still worth every penny. Great we are getting some free DLC along with the modding tools, I'll look forward to throwing more money at them when the expansion or paid DLC comes, I'm a happy customer :)
