Sorry if this has been posted before. First I have seen of it. :)

I'm guessing some sort of another overhaul is going to come about. I found the link about the Senior Director interesting:

Responsible for management of all aspects of both the Star Wars Galaxies Live Service and future expansions to ensure continued commercial success and encourage subscriber growth and increased customer retention.

Might have something to do with Biowares MMO, they could be teaming again. The job postings are from the 12th to today, so its quite possible conisdering Bioware just made the announcement a few days ago.

Rumor is that Bioware wants to start doing something themselves and not rely on someone elses IP. Nothing official of course just the rumor that abounds these days.

Oh my, I did some digging.  Bioware is definitely doing something int he MMO market and the folks who did KOTOR, NWN and other BioWare titles and some MMO producers that date back to UO when Origin owned it are on the project.... very interesting indeed.  Also interesting is the producer from UO also worked for SOE which almost definitely means he worked on the original SWG project since everyone they stole from UO worked on SWG...

I know Bioware has stated they want to work on MMO's using their own IP but having heard rumors about SWG2 from LA themselves and knowing that BioWare did KOTOR.... Who knows, maybe they're going to do SWG2 for LA?

Yea well....CH's were also told they would get a pet and a necklace which would both be usefull when they preordered Trials of Obi-wan...look how that turned out. Rumors and what we are told both hold the same weight when it comes to SWG, SoE and LA. Until all the involved parties make a statement saying Bioware is not teaming with LA to do the next Star Wars MMO its just speculation. Rumors dont exist here anymore, its either speculation or bullshit.

it is interesting that they singled out SWG when explaining the responsiblities, kind of makes you wonder if heads have rolled or people are jumping ship.

They are. No wondering there. Only problem is that the wrong heads aren't rolling.

heres what i've put together so far

If the info from the following link is true, The focus groups in LA a few weeks ago gave a few options for an "expantion" including a light/dark path like KOTOR or a 'morphing Galaxies into Battlefront II"or if people would like to see old stuff returned to the game. basically these are not idea's for an expansion as they would need another compleat overhaul to the game. Plus the announcements for the FG on the SWG boards said that it was for an Undisclosed company not for SOE.

Bioware as we all know did KOTOR and Pandemic did Battlefront

Then Bioware announced that there setting up shop in Austin to develop an MMO

this is just me thinking out loud though.

Yup, at this point its just speculation based on facts available.

But it certainly wouldn't surprise me if in about 12-15 months BioWare starts alpha testing SWG2 :)

It's possible they might be, in a thread I created I posted quotes from the offical BioWare thread on their new company in which devs and QA personel state that any statements regarding not working on other people's IP were made before the creation of their MMO division and did not apply at this time.

    ==========
SWG - 1st Gen MBH (Closed)
    EVE (Closed)
WoW (61 Orc Hunter - Blackwing Lair)
    GuildWars (Boring...)

We already had a thread about this....

As much as I would love it to be a Star Wars MMO made by Bioware, if it was, we would be hearing at least some buzz coming from LA.  And they've been absolutely silent.  And also, depending on the licensing deal with SOE, it would mean that they either lost that license, or it wasn't thorough enough.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!

This is the key to whats going on. Everyone assumed previously that LA was behind the focus group since SOE was ruled out.

    Huh ?

It was clearly stated that the FG was on the bahlf of Lucas Art.
It was in the head of the article.

I dont have the link handy tho, but i remember it because i was looking it up in the past already, when this statement ("No1 knows who...") came up.

The FG was on behalf of Lucas Art.

Then it must have been LA because that call for people for the focus group eventualy ended up on the launch pad, and I just don't see SOE having done that for anyone else.

Under their Combat Design Lead job description for the Austin team:

"...will be responsible for designing all combat-related systems, e.g. combat rules, PVP, abilities, character and monster classes, items."
"Familiarity with fantasy role-playing games is a must."

Unless they're playing fast-and-loose with the words "fantasy" and "monster", it doesn't sound like Star Wars development.
