I rather thought it might be too, however, Bandai Namco is going to be making a "big announcement" today that isn't PC DS related but is DS news. PC Gamer, just 10 hours ago, put up news about the board game too, lending it credibility.

Like boardgame as in Warcraft or as in a Tabletop D&D thing?

Hopefully we'll know more today when the official announcement comes -- if this is indeed what it will be. :D

I can already see it work. After all, the main feature in Dark Souls games has always been rolling.

Darksouls is an interesting game to make into a board game. Not sure it will work, but I'll definitly check it out.
Gears of War, Doom, Warcraft, Starcraft all have been made into interesting and fun board games. At least 2 of those is a bit easier to see as a boardgame, but still.
Steamforged makes Guild Ball, a minature style game, so I have a feeling they might just be making a minature style game for Dark Souls, which may actually work, and lots may pledge and buy it just for some awesome looking miniatures

As long as it incites inner nerd rage and replayability is 10/10 I'm going to buy it.

Hoping it's something along the lines of the D&D miniature adventure games like Wrath of Ashardalon or fantasy flight's Descent. IF they could incorporate more challenge into the combat mechanics (DS's core feature) it could be rather interesting.

i can only imagine the dice used for this game.... dodged too slow, you take 1/2 hp damage. dodged too fast, you take 1/2 hp damage. dodged too weird, you fall off cliff and die. great dodge, but arrow got you from rooftop, you take 1/2 hp damage. good hit! you have definitely dented his armor a bit. blocked the wrong way, you take 3/4 hp damage.
