I think the first thing I'll do is swing the camera around and look at the character I just created from every angle under the game's natural lighting. Then I'm pretty sure the second thing I'll do will be to correct all the unwanted things I just noticed. Come to think of it, I believe that will go on for most of the day.
Sounds about right Ice. Like when i started EvE and i stood in that editor for hours and hours. Then talk about lost... Lol i love that feeling. Of being in a world and not knowing whats around the bend.
The girl near the gigantic tortoise in the screenshot seems to be almost falling out of her Victoria's Secret armor...
This pleases me...
Oh, back on track, the first thing I do is the most boring boring boring but necessary thing. I select a PoV and lock it (if that is possible).
I will rebind the keyboard so that I can have many useful buttons around the WASD keys, probably rebind spellbars so that they change with the F-keys.
I also rebind the keyboard to use keys above and to the immediate left of the directional arrows. I especially like to use the six buttons above the directional arrows for Target Closest, Target Next, Stick/Follow (good for melee), Attack, etc.
Therefore I stand pretty much where I appear in the gameworld for a fairly long time adjusting things until I am comfortable with the keybinds, the movement, the targetting, the size, scale and alpha settings of the GUI, and so on.
This also means I will be unmoving but intently occupied, but looking as if I am AFK for a half hour or so while others log on and immediately go about rat-bashing.
(Sarcasm Alert!) I will also be clicking, "DECLINE," about a hundred times from all the players asking me, "u wanna grp n kill stuff?" or "u wanna join guild? huh? come on join we cool u wanna? hey you, you wanna?" *Spamming invites* Decline, decline, decline, decline ... Add member to IGNORE List.
I wonder how many people do that exact same thing?
I too, after way too long spent in character creation. I shudder to think how long I will spend in this games with far more control over your look and who knows how much over your specs... I digress.
Where was I?
Yes I also spend as long as it takes upon first logging in to get the interface as close to what I like as possible. Never perfect. I always end up changing things as I play. Depends on the game and the scalability (word?) of the UI.
So if that doesn't count then what I mainly do is take in the feel of the world. This, I am sad to say can make or break a game for me. Content is of course very very important. But I am a new generation gamer, albeit an old one, and I love great graphics and art. Bland and repeated contend can really put me off.
So I spend a very long time in the training area just soaking it all in. And doing every bit of content I can find.
I'm making a random character then running out for some quick quests.
After I've gotten a feel for how it all plays and whether it lives up to my expectations ( I have such high hopes for this game ) I'm either calling a few friends to make them buy copies so we can adventure together, or I'm uninstalling and continuing the research grind.
Assuming HJ gets the green light with us, I'll spend a silly amount of time in character creation going through all of the different options to try & figure out what will be the most overused body features and clothes. I'll then try and find a combination that is both unique and sweeeeeet.
Then I'll bust out the visine because I will have been starring at the screen into the wee hours of the night.
Finally, I will take my time and actually Enjoy The Game. Appreciating the details and actually reading the quest lines. I've mindlessly grinded through countless mobs and levels before because I thought the higher the levels would mean more fun. But it all just ended up being work. A good MMORPG should be about the journey, not the destination, and I plan to smell every freakin digital flower I find.
Oh, then I hope sincerely that I won't get into the level grind of WoW and feel compelled to play 20+ hours per week just to have my fun dashed after hitting the level cap. I really hope this game facilitates casual small party game play and allows true exploration.

Man, I don't even want to think about getting in game yet. It's so far off.
First thing I'll do? Figure out what the hell I'm doing in this brand new game.
Then probably wonder why this weirdo Suwari is dancing like that.
Well I'll be spending the first 4 hours in the char editor, then get lost in whatever starting place I get to!

I will begin to assemble my arsenal of Suwaripults... The rest is self explanatory.
The only problem is a sturdy cage to hold my "live" ammo

Yes Dear, i'll buy you a new set of Suwari Hide Gloves for your birthday!
Lol,
I wonder how many people do that exact same thing?
