Hell no. They told people there were no plans to merge while they were preparing to merge. Trion is even more dead to me than it already was.

They said that months ago, if they use the word like never! then for sure, but there was no plans thats can means there maybe change of plans even if they didn't plan on it.

They said they weren't planning it while they were planning it. You can't spin that no matter how hard you try.

I went back in the other day to see what's up. Players seem to feel like most of the blatant land hackers are gone and prices seemed much lower than they used to be. The new stuff is nice - make sure you have some bag space.

Not sure if I will sub; the low prices have me tempted a bit.

I will not play a game based on what I wish it was.
    This.  For all the games.

The low prices of what?  I agree with you that the labor point regeneration fix was nice and the turbulance they added to prevent gliders coming in from a mile away at sea were good changes.  Sadly this game kind of prevents people from coming back as the sub fee is only worth it for land and finding land is tough.  Its impossible on some servers.

I personally dont understand this mechanic.  In a year from now, there will be fewer players but they will all own more land and it will still be unavailable.  Why would a person want to come back and sub when the biggest benefit to subbing is not available to them?  It seems like this mechanic would prevent some people from subbing.

Not planing it still does not mean never going to do it. Plans can change is not a spin if a plan change or not. But your spinning it your own way.

    Labor points, check.

Cash shop selling labor potions, check.

    RNG crafting, check.

I can see only your point on cash shop seling pots as somewhat valid.
This can be a concern if you like the concept of basement dwellers having always advantage on you in a MMORPG games.

My opinion is Archeage has the best balance in this regard.
    1) People with chalenging jobs can catch up to those who have plenty of time on their hands.
    2) Various mechanics like  loyalty points, merrit badges  offer alternative ways to obtain such items.
    3) APEX offers a alternative way to obtain such items for in game gold without relying to cash shop.
4)In case of you pay for being ahead of me ..ok..then you also pay for game content being free to me.

About labor points i don't see  why this masterpiece of an idea isn't in any other MMORPG game. It is the best idea implemented for crafting invented for this genre since 15 years. IMO it should be in all MMORPG's.
It gives gear value and greatly helps them to retain their value and also helps the problem of overproduction.

    RNG doesn't have only negatives.
It has been ever in MMORPG genre since Role playing table top games.
    - It is a big leveler. No matter of play time, money, level your chances are random.
big thanks to whales at this point for paying for my game and pay to loose ;)
Also since 2.0 big potions of RNG has been equalized.
For example get like 90 pieces of mana whisp (can be also obtained with zero RNG) and voila here is your garantueed delphinad, with a 100% predictable route..

Labor points, at least in their current iteration, are a deal breaker for me.

    Clever things.
