Anyone notice at 1:25 the air on the back is coming from the gun?

Well spotted. Most likely a missing collision detection. Will report it as a bug to the "Issue Council".

    Thanks.

Guess they never heard for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. A reason credible sci fi writers do not use projectile weapons in space.

Ever heard of Warhammer 40K boltguns ? Every projectile is a small rocket - which works perfectly fine in space. Without recoil. They exist in real life too.

Actually a rocket will have recoil to as long as you fire it in a closed barrel .. or with anything behind it ..

    Railguns however do not ..

Then you better eject it with a loaded spring before the rocket propulsion ignites. And compensate spring with counterbalance. Low tech solution, but effective.

A  cannon has been sent to space already:

Youre kidding right? He googles shit then links as many things as he finds and hopes no one reads them. Because 80% of the time stuff he links makes the other persons argument for them or has no bearing on the debate at hand, or is something so outdated its relevance is next to zero.

Sci Fi game about ships in space and some people are worried because of ....guns in space....LOL

Excuse me while I get on my flying mount and go kill some ogres with my +16 sword of ogre slaying......Oh wait magic isn't real.......

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I read them. I talked to some of those involved in the project.

The weapon was not recoilless, which you want to point out i guess - modifying my post above. Thank you - well spotted. My mistake.

And yes, I know, the one mounted on the space station is a cannon and not a recoilless rifle/carbine for a single soldier. I posted the links to show that even in our time we already had projectile weapons in orbit.

The point i wanted to make:
Even we todays technology it is possible to make recoilless personal arms using rocket propelled ammunition that can be used during an EVA.

There's as aspect to the game, if you do too many hard turns, you suffer ill effects from g forces. It's odd, if a vehicle has no artificial inertial stabilization, how your organs don't spaghettify through the pores on your back when the "ship" accelerates to sub-warp speed. Also, at this velocity, light wouldn't stream past, as the graphic during jumps, but gradually focus to one point on the horizon, from the perspective of the pilot looking forward.

I understand some amount of suspension of disbelief is necessary for a fun space shooter, but damn. Chris Roberts plugged "F35s in space", like that's ever a good idea, ships have wings because reasons (even in atmospheres, if a vehicle has the ability to maneuver in space, whatsoever, those methods of propulsion would work fine in the "soup" of a pressurized environment, any kind of aerodynamics actually complicate the math), pew pew and cachunk cachunk from space laser weapons, and the fact every single mass to acceleration ratio is off by at least 25%...

It's like... watching 1940s and 1950s sci fi movies of what people thought outer space was like. Some of it is even further removed.

I've heard this project compared to landing man on the moon. I think with all the promises, "definitely", "absolutely", "certainly", it's as if Roberts asks, why don't we land man on the sun. Not enough people seem to get that.

    It is all make believe.

Trying to argue over how valid your make believe is against someone elses make believe is a pointless excercise.

"But warps drives are not currently possible".
"You are right let me throw this script for Star Trek in the bin".
