I was going to stop playing eve for a couple weeks and my substribtion dies 2 days. If my subscription dies in tomareo, will my 20day day still train during my off time?
Comments
Yes it will.
awsome
actually no, if your sub dies, skill training stops, i've tried it already and proved it to myself, because i also asked the same question, and found the answer by myself, i also asked a GM and he replied with the same answer i found.
so no, your skill training stops.
um.. this is wrong..
You will continue to train your last skill until completion regardless of whether the account is active or not. This is from my experience, my friend's experience, my corp mates'... In fact, I'm sure that ISD or even the Devs have mentioned this.
Perhaps when you suspended your account you didn't have a skill training? Also, while the GMs in EVE are rather good, remember that most of them are volunteers and some are not as knowledgeable about everything as others.
yeah, skills continue to train untill the one you were training when your subscription runs out is finished.
I finished some pretty hefty month-long skills that way, combining them with a small break from the game.
Wait. Hold on. It is possible that everyone in this thread is right.....for the time period they did their testing in.
I think skills USED TO still train even if your acct is inactive, but CCP may have changed that relativly recently.

They got rid of skills training while your account is INACTIVE, because of the 14 DAY FREE TRIAL. You can no longer train skills when the account is INACTIVE. CCP cant have their servers training the skills of thousands of 14 day free trial players quiting after their 14 days are up.
When did they change this - I haven't heard any mention of it on the main forums? Could you provide a link?
Also, skill training does not use virtually any processing power on their servers. All it is, is a time stamp set on your account. If you are not logged in, the server does nothing, but when you sign on, it checks to see if that time stamp has expired and then modifies the characters skill table. Yah, it will make periodic checks to see if a skill is finished yet while you are online, but it actually does this infrequently and doesn't use nearly as much processor cycles as normal activities, especially because it doesn't have to broadcast it to everyone else on the same Sol Node. That little count down timer, that they only added last year in Exodus, is a client based thing, and when it says "Skill is about to finish" it's because the client and server are really never that much in sync, and the client is waiting for the server to announce that the skill is actually done.
..so saying that it was removed because there are too many accounts inactive that are still training skills is not a viable excuse. The skill system has always worked fine under any load.

Yeah Nu11u5 is right on this, the server takes the absolute mininum load possible for skill training. All a skill in training is essentially a timestamp and when it will be completed.
Everything I have heard is it still works like it used to, and not any of this new stuff.
And there is no real reason for CCP to take it out. If a player quits his sub and decided to take a break but puts a 60 day skill training, if anything it will be an incentive for him to come back and know his skill is finished instead of having to wait. Also you cannot change skills while inactive so there is no real advantage to being inactive unless you have a really long skill and are going to be gone for awhile.
