If you haven’t yet played Duelyst, you really should. A mix of CCG with a tactical battlefield like Final Fantasy Tactics, and a deep lore and history akin to a fine Joe Abercrombie novel, Duelyst is something special. We recently sat down with developer Counterplay Games founder and CEO Keith Lee to chat about the game’s progress since funding in 2014, and its impending launch and the future.

Surprised the graphics aren't a little better in this game, reminds me of 16 bit retro, but the game play is fun, neat little tutorial to start... Would love to see a single player Campaign

Unfortunately the board is not as important as one might think in this game.

    Waiting for:

Games like this title should always have a mobile version nowadays. I'm hoping that comes out soon.

Given that one of the prompts is, "Press anywhere to continue", I'd imagine one is either already out or will be out shortly.

Fun little game. I could see myself playing if the PvE content is decent.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Looks interesting but the graphics are a huge turnoff. Just watched Kripp playing a Runescape version of Hearthstone last night- that looked interesting to me.

Not much into the competitive PvP side, but if the PvE is decent I'll check it out. Glad to see games like this getting made, and getting attention.

haha ,yeah very odd i almost didn't recognize Kibler.Idid not know he was a partner in this game,it sure does not seem like Kibler has any input as the changes have been VERY frustrating.

I was really liking the game but recent changes have completely removed me from the game not wanting to even login. They nerfed a few cards that needed nerfs but nerfed others that no way needed nerfs.

The biggest problem i have is the recent change to only draw one card at a time and limiting mulligans. The worst thing about card games is rng and the OLD settings improved on that however the new settings have made the game yet worse in rng following the same mistakes as Hearthstone and MTG.

I disagree the board does make a lot of difference however doesn't take long to understand the basics of board movement. Some will for example or at least we did just put our backs to the wall versus the Assassin to avoid backstab. You also want to remember to try and avoid multiple combo kills,so aligning your minions properly can help with that.

Game was headed in the right direction but imo now it is headed in the wrong direction and has scared me away, have not played in about 3 weeks now, well since the changes whatever day that was.

It's an offense to FFT to say Duelyst is a "tactical battlefield". Duelyst is so mechanically simple and banal that it's much closer to Hearthstone than it is to a tactics game. If you're looking for tactically deep, then you should look for PoxNora.

Well the TACTICAL problem is the lack of player interaction ,both Duelyst and HEarthstone have no player to player interaction, you simply play your turn then sit back and watch your opponent play his turn,it is basically like Chess.

MTG is the godfather of the genre and imo just does it better although has not improved in the visualization, presentation of the product to make it fun to watch and that is where Hearthstone wins out.

With MTG you actually get to challenge every play your opponent makes and that is the way pvp SHOULD work.Duelyst at least TRIED to remedy the bad turn based design by allowing you to mulligan a card every turn and draw 2 cards per turn which at least allowed you LESS RNG to REACT although i still prefer to be able to react to EVERY play not just on your turn.
SO sadly Duelyst moved away from improving rng and turned backwards towards more rng and LESS options. So i guess in a way Kibler maybe is influencing the game, trying to make it more like Hearthstone which is a HUGE mistake.

I have to repeat it for the umpteenth time,Blizzard does not strike it rich because they make good challenging games, there is a lot of other reasons why so for devs to constantly try and imitate them is just stupidity.
