ive been wanting to go back to SWG so ppl tell me how it is bad and good

Look at all the post's here and follow the trail of posts back to November.
Afterwards, if you have any follow up questions, im sure anyone here would be more than happy to answer them.

TBH, your best bet is to try it yourself, and you can do that for free using 2 options:
Option 1: If you have an account that you cancelled before Nov 15th 2005, you can re-activate your account for free for 15 days. All you need to do activate it is install SWG and then log into launchpad as you normally would. You'll have access to everything you did before (and JTL if you didn't have the expansion) for 15 days.
Option 2: If you didn't cancel before then, you can do the normal 10 day trial at www.tryswg.com but you can't get off the tutorial station
If option 1 is available to you, I'd suggest doing option 2 first so you can do the tutorial and learn the new system without using up your other 15 day trial. Once you finish Option 2, reinstall the full version of SWG and start option 1. This way you have the full 15 days of complete access available to you without having to spend it on learning the new system.
Not only did they botch the implementation of the NGE, they refused to address serious UI issues that make the game miserable, and clumsy.
The lack of serious consideration, and implementation of players suggestions to make the NGE more palatable, and the dead silence and cold shoulder to the veteran players that had truly terrific ideas to polish the NGE into something playable was what finally drove me off.
I carefully researched and made an educated purchase of an EQ-style game called SWG1, and SOE broke into my house, took the game I purchased, and erased it from my hard drive in my computer, and replaced it with a game called SWG2.
I find that highly offensive, and am completely disgusted with the tactics, and the sorry new game they tried to force down my throat.
I refuse to reccomend the game to anyone because I think it is not fun. NGE sucked the fun out of this game like a vaccuum cleaner in my opinion.
I refuse to reccomend anyone do business with SOE due to shady business practices, and the inability to meet the needs of their customer base.
I highly reccomend you look to software outside the control of SOE, and save yourself alot of grief.
Read all the posts in this forum, go to the official forum and read there also ... do we really need another thread to bash SWG??????

Dont mind the trolls, they are just upset that a central part of their already pathetic lives was taken from them.
Try the game out, its quite good and im sure you will enjoy it greatly.

Trolls, huh? Now there is a fine example of the pot calling the kettle black. Only reason you EVER stop in here, pirrg, is to make some one lined bash against a thread. Not once have you ever contributed to the debate for either side. Post a paragraph of coherent, nonconfrontation text sometime and then perhaps you have the right to use the word troll.
As for the original op, you came in here asking opinions. You got two right off the bat and despite the tone - they made some valid points. Do not go off with some kind of rant or belittle them for obliging you. If what you sought was opinions, you got them. If what you came here for was to post a troll thread that starts a flame war - go elsewhere.
Points you may have missed...
1. This forum especially this page contains literally a vault full of opinions, issues and debates on the current condition of the game. Its kinda like walking into the library, marching past the people talking about Star Wars, the book case that reads in big red letters Science Fiction (including Star Wars) and up to the counter to ask the librarian where the Star Wars section is.
2. Seeing how you mentioned the hate game attitude, it would appear to me that you already have your mind made up. If you really want to know then and don't really want people telling you then go to the official site and play the trial. If you like it, great. If not, fine.
As for MY response to your question - the game is a shell of its former self. Its now FPS and trimmed down to a lite shareware version. The companies involved have done nothing that they have promised, still release broken publishes and patches and otherwise is the leper of the MMORPG. The push now is clearly on the next genreation of Star Wars games and thus leaving this one in a limping state with no possible way for it to ever achieve its former subs and interaction.
Still, if the game suits you when you play it PAST level 30 - then more power to you.

Well Op , really your best shot is try the game through its trial .
But i'll Give you a little info on some of the differences of the NEW SWG .
Gameplay : NGE , Well you now must initiate your auto-attack yourself (while focusing on aiming on a target And using specials fired from either your right mouse button , hotkeys) . Questing is your main route for lvling . Creature grinding is a very long process , So the whole grind group option is gone now . Though you can lvl at a decent rate through space combat .
JTL: Has remained basiclly unchanged (other than you gain ground xp now )
A.I. : NPC's are a little more interesting now , Elites actually can give you a decent fight in some situations . Though sadly there are a few issues that have not be dealt with yet . Due to the new twitch based combat , you often find your self misfiring into a crowd of npcs. The end result usually means a trip to the cloner or taking a run for it , Which can be a tad more than simply frustrating .
Another frustrating issue for many players is given how fast combat is now , You often find yourself with to little action to fire off that much needed heal .
Questing / Content : This is where NGE is supposed to shine , Yet at present time it fails to deliver . There are some nicely done quests , From LVL 1 to I belive around 50 now . They again pick up from lvl 70-90 . Sadly inbetween you are left in a void almost seemingly unable to advance . This is unacceptable in a Pay to Play game . ( Alpha/Beta testing is usually free ) ::::

Crafting/entertaining : These two career paths seem to be in a void at present time . The development team has been very quiet in regards to their intentions toward these two professions. Crafting is still basiclly intact , But the removal of Decay has hurt Armorsmiths, Weaponsmiths badly , Other paths still have a decent income depending on your server population of course .
Entertaining has no viable purpose at present , The only announcement thus far from SOE has been they will be receiving combat abilities .
Professions / Skills: There are only 9 professions now , which cuts down on bugs and other issues of the old skill system . Though the skill based system was one of the main reasons many of us enjoyed this game as much as we did . If you prefer individuality this system is not for you . If you prefer a class sytem that is small and easily balanced you may enjoy it greatly .
Endgame: At present your only option is to PVP or do a few of the dungeons . Yet as with everything else listed sadly SWG still fails to deliver a solid experience . Maybe in a year things will be different , Yet again customers should not be forced to pay in order to participate in SOE"S development testing .
Community: Sadly this is something not fixed in a hotfix , Truth betold the communitys across all servers are hurting at present . Its not unrare to see at most 10-20 people while on a shuttle hoping tour . There is no longer a reason to gather in any location , Which means finding a group or A decent amount of PVP can be a task in itself . Again maybe in a year things will be different .
I have tried to give a fair unbiased observation of SWG at present , Yes you may have fun playing ,it would not surprise me . Only you can decide that , so give it a shot . They need all the people they can get .

Shugoo, I strongly suggest you do some forum reading. The answer to your original question is here, awaiting you. There is no need to reiterate. Both sides of the opinion equation are clearly represented, though you will find that it is heavily wieghted towards those who so strongly dislike the current state of the game that they'd rather chew glass than play the game (as it stands) any longer.
Your follow up post indicates that this isn't an opinion you want to hear. As was pointed out earlier, this reveals a clear bias on your part -- a bias your original question indicates to be unfounded in actual experience of the game, which is something that the majority of posters of this forum do not share with you, having played the game extensively to form their opinions and biases.
If your desire is only to hear the debatable good points of the current game, you might want to make this clear in your query. Your feeble attempts to label those who gave you answers you didn't like as trolls only limit both your credibility as a poster and your access to fresh input on the subject you are pursuing, as even those who like the NGE aren't partial to slaptards and aren't going to go out of their way to accommodate one. They have better things to do.
My suggestion, should you be in the Nancy McIntyre "Reading is bad" camp, would be to go play with Pirrg in the special ed corner.

Obraik. I've read alot of your posts on this forum and eventhough we can never see eye to eye cuz' you're playing SWG and I'm a Refugee, I really admire your ability to stay objective nearly all the time. Enemy mine, I salute you

It's easy to get the idea that everyone hates you when you're openly holding an unpopular opinion. But it's just hard to hate Obraik. He's a good guy and a part of our fam, even if he's "the enemy" when it comes time to talk about SWG.

I like the smaller community here compared to the SWG forums. Things over there move way too fast for me and it only takes a few people to make some comments that result in the whole post being deleted
