After last week's Funcom financials and the news that the game was doing well, the team has released a brand new trailer for The Secret World in an effort to bring in even more players. Long considered by many to be an under-appreciated title, this is a golden opportunity with the free trial as well!

never been able to understand the appeal, you endlessly re-grind the same missions, the same areas.

It's because it takes considerable effort to create a viable build, to get you through most of the zones.

That's why a lot of People got face rolled when they reached Blue Mountain. It was the so called "Gear / Build" check zone and if you hadn't found a good build with some decent gear by then, you will have a very very hard time in that zone.
Hence, why for a lot of People Blue Mountain was the end stop and them quiting.

But if you got through it, after that the game really opened up with the Egypt zones, which are fantastic and Transylvania is great too!

Tokyo is an outright bitch and for me it was my endstop! One huge "In Your Face" wall, that made blue Mountain look like a piece of cake.
Never managed to get into Tokyo and enjoy it. :( Really hate the Aegis system with a pasion! It really did kill the fun for me.
And I wasn't the only one. Lot of People hated the Aegis system and quit around the same time as me. The Cabal I was in died off real quick after it was released. :(

lol they want to promote their game then fix the things that make people miserable and quit instead they just move forward with the story nothing else. The skill wheel was horrible and lackluster , the animations looked like a art student did them in middle school and you had to repeat the same content over and over until you got a certain quality level to move on. How exactly is this fun?

I am surprised after all these years and complaints about the animations, they still have not addressed them. If they could make combat more fluid, they could bring so many players back.

A trailer won't fix problems such as the lackluster combat system, or the awful animations, or the tedious pain that is AEGIS.
  • KajidourdenKajidourden Member EpicPosts: 3,030

The combat looks like an undergrad student did the animations, can't do it.  That combined with the "1111111111211111" combat is just....no.

  • goboygogoboygo Member RarePosts: 2,141
Not enough skills to use at once so the combat gets really boring real fast, if you give me the ability to use 10 or 15 skills on one bar I'm all in.

Egypt. Egypt always makes me burnt out. I never can get beyond egypt.
I keep trying and trying knowing Tran is where it's at...but it's longer than Kingsmouth and twice as bland.

I cannot stress how bad egypt sucks.

-They then focus that as the expansion series-

    ...

I meant a pain because it's too dull.

Sure, it's not a race Suzie @SBFord but.... via Massively?
(http://forums.mmorpg.com/discussion/comment/6936219/#Comment_6936219   shortly after FC uploaded it, and there's also an overview video accompanied the trailer as well)

Don't get me wrong, the guys over there are cool and I'm a frequent reader, but aren't they kinda your competitors?

    totally right.
but in this game (like in guildwars1) you have alot of skills to unlock and nice achivment reward.
for me the best part is the story so its a little shame we complete dlc in few hours.
for vet players there is not much to do after getting the gear, skills and complete all missions but for newcommer... its one of the best.

lifetime member and not regret about it :)

That's because it would take a complete rewrite to fix them and it's just not going to happen. I agree that's what turned me off, of course.

Great story, ugly characters, grind fest. I quit at Aegis. But Portsmouth and Transylvania will always be two of my favorite zones of any game.

Egypt just seemed like such a misstep to me. The story is good, but the ambiance... never felt like a fit to me.
