What I find most surprising about this thread is that many of its responses give an air of this type of behavior being aberrant, an exception, or somehow unique to this one hacker. It isnt. This is the norm with a good percentage of "gamers," and especially the younger generation of gamers where pvp is involved. The large majority, however, are much smarter and discreet than this guy, but with the same dismissive, irrational, irresponsible, and delusional line of thought exhibited by this guy.
I am relatively young and I grew up seeing my friends hack and cheat in games as if it was the norm. Its the one reason why i wont play games that are ripe for the ripping, like games that depend on major game features such as HP, Mana, and CDs to be client-side managed.
I can tell by reading many posts in this thread that It's a lot more prevalent than many of you think. There are players in BDO that are hacking that go undetected by the naked eye. You can check that one off as an absolute certainty.
Hooray! a verifiable and recognizable voice for this A$$hat! Scum of the internet .......Check. Idiot for hacking.............. Check. Deserved what he got ... Check.
I've always wondered - when the day will come that online gaming companies share data on "hacking" accounts results in people being red flagged as potential hackers when their info or IP shows up in a database of potential hackers.
Please, lets never talk seriously about IP being used to ID hackers again. There's a good reason why courts have ruled that IPs are not people, mainly because of the way our current internet structure is set up. As it currently is, in most instances an IP = a house. Their are many people in that house, some being perfectly nice people, some being hackers or whatever, and then some other outside party who might break into that houses wifi and use it to do something bad (many known child pornos do this). Judging all of them based on one would be a great injustice.
I dont think most cheaters actually consider what they are doing as cheating.....From gaming to sports to school to relationships.
Only those who are delusional would lack the ability to see what they're doing is cheating.
In a genre where you enter in credit card numbers instead of cheat codes to get everything from gold to pre-leveled characters and more, is it really any big surprise?

IDK man. I've seen a lot of people who are not delusional with questionable ethics and moral compasses rationalizing all kinds of stuff as not being what it is or at the very least downplaying it.
Just take a little side trip over to the many WOW pirate unauthorized server discussions.

Now he will take up customer service queue by crying and saying he didn't hack and it was unjust. So the real paying customers with legitimate issues will have to wait for 100 crying hackers to get filtered out.

It wouldn't be any more surprising if the genre was still largely sub based TBH.

Hacking is a game in itself. He hax and he won. Now, this is not to be confused with playing against really good players who are too often labeled as hackers..tell the truth.

Now he is just someone who cares more about winning a game than social norms.
