Yeah me too, I offered a similar observation in another thread. That background was spot on.

that said what is up with links saying this "Solve the Captcha for access to MMORPG.com" rather than an actual headline?

Title needs changing. Unless I clicked the link never would have known it was for Chronicles of Elyria.

As for the video itself, that was very cool. +5 points for the reference. On an off note. That's how you show a video. I loved the gymnastics with the pole, showing both a half rotation and then a full one.

It's an issue the guys are working on. I'm going back in and fixing each by hand. It's correct now.

I am interested in this game. I always only see that one type of weapon and I've never seen the full UI.

Err, how this kind of combat would work in GvG or larger scale PvP scenario?

There's spears, there's throwing weapons, there's sword & shield, etc. Many different kinds of weapons. They just went for depth rather than breadth for the Kickstarter. They tried to show off closer-to-finished features rather than show off mini-bits of many different things.

Wait, a 1-hander without dual-wield/off-hand in an MMO?  INCONCEIVABLE!!!

they both started out using their right hands.... that's not right. Eventually a game will allow you to be a lefty....

Wow, I dont recall they stabbed each other like 10 times, but I guess I forgot. Damn, Princess Bride is brutal.

Seems like there are only physical weapons, no magic in CoE.

I believe there is magic, but its not as easy as creating a mage character. Apparently you'll need to unlock magic through some kind of lengthy process or something.

Whilst everyone else may love the combat, the amount of movement as well as fight moves indicates to me that it will be unplayable for anyone, like me, who has to use adapted hardware because of disability. Yet another game ruined by the combat system and lack of inclusivity. Pity, I was really hopeful about this one.

What I'm wondering is, where are all of the other people? (NPCs or players)

The first video I watched (KS?) has a solitary character walking through a beautiful world, but I don't recall seeing any other characters in the world.

This one has two characters, but I'm wondering how many other character models it can support now, npc or player. Back to the video, I loved the gymnastics however the putting away of swords before the jump seemed a bit stilted. Still, very good combat scene, though might be too "busy" for my reflexes. So, is this an action combat game? If so, I may have to pass.

Kyleran, are you passively criticizing the fact that a game that just began a Kickstarter to finance development is not yet...developed?  As I remember, Kickstarter began with an eye toward companies with a concept being able to make their cases on the basis of that alone and enducing enthusiasts to sign onto their dreams.  It's a risky premise indeed, but that is the premise on which Kickstarter began.  "Expectation creep" likely describes where we are now.

The best one can do at this point is either to assist the financing of the game if the concept and the modest development that has taken place has made its case, or to pass for now and move on to greener pastures, wouldn't you say?  The community is fairly enthusiastic, but still not large enough to entertain the sort of kibbitzing that seems to be the lifeblood of sites like this, so it's likely a doomed effort to attempt to start such a cycle.

"Just began" is a very generous term to use for CoE.

This thread is from 2016, necroed curtsey of an adbot. It seems even back then Kyleran had concerns about CoE. :)
