Just in case some of you haven't seen any movies yet:
    FilePlanet TES IV -Oblivion Movies

    OMG, EETS BUUUUUUTEEEEEEEFULLLLLLL!!! :p

Seriously, I'm a BIG hater of anything single-player. No really, H8 them.

This one is going to be an exception if for no other reason than the eye candy.

You HAVE to check out the combat movie in that list, it's the one at the top, "Countdown 2 days"

If it doesn't come with multiplayer capability so I can showboat my items and people watch and charge me a monthly fee I'm not interested! ::::35::::::35::::::35::

    p.s. no PvP?::::07::

Honestly, if anything will be the downfall of this worthless The Elder Scrolls series it's going to be the complete lack of PvP.

Seriously, all that hard work just to do more PvE stuff? It doesn't make sense. Without FFA PvP in TES IV - Oblivion, the game will surely fail. I really think the dev's should reconsider releasing this game until they add that feature in.

I doubt that the lack of monthly fee to play this game will be enough to draw a decent crowd. Their complete lack of end game content is just a slap in the face to the hardcore gamer. As I understand it, they go so far as to allow the game to have an ending? WTF?!!?!?!?!?!?

How can they possibly hope to survive in this ever changing market? Without PvP or any form of endgame this title will fall by the wayside...

TES4 is going to get RPG of the year easy. I feel sorry for those of you with such limited horizons that you can't enjoy single-player games.

I think it's pretty pathetic that someone can be so addicted to MMO's that they can't play anything else.

You do realize the game is a RPG, not a MMORPG competing with other MMOs. If you seen and read this game I would say it be the one of the best RPG like games created with AI that are very interactive and unscripted. It's also I say one of the few RPGs that actually have a storyline where you don't actually have to continue the main direction of the game if you don't want to, so many roles and classes and things to do completing the game doesn't even have to be an objective.

In a way, oblivion has the massive content and world of a MMO, but you play by yourself with 1000s of NPC living their own lives 24/7 and the world is so massively huge comparable to a real life travel time. Just because its not a MMO doesn't mean it won't do well, RPG is a game type and because MMOs are the same thing but with real people won't mean MMO will destroy RPG game types. I would explain more but it be pointless.

To answer your PVP question, you can't have a PVP in a single player RPG......

That was my take on it to, considering he praised the game like 2 posts earlier.

I was lucky enough that my local EB got their shipment in today (20th), so ive been playing all afternoon. All I can say is, it was so worth the wait. The graphics have been scaled down since E3 (mainy shadows), not much but its noticable, but otherwise it wouldnt be playable. The combat is so much better, EVERYTHING is so much better. Spells are actually worth using now (unlike Morrowind) and the new sneak system is great. Ive played about 5 hours and all ive done is explore aroudn the Imperial City, and even then ive only covered MAYBE 30% of it because theres so many sewers (dungeons) to explore and things to do. And when you look on the map, that little tiny section where ive explored is MAYBE 1%, if not less, of the entire game area.

If you liked Morrowind, it isnt possible that you wont like Oblivion. If you didnt like Morrowind, maybe because the story wasnt focused enough or because you didnt like the combat, give Oblivion a try because it addresses all of Morrowinds shortcoming and then makes them so much better.

On a side note, about the view distance, you may have heard of how trees popup out of nowhere or how distant textures are really muddy... I havent noticed trees popping out of thin air and the draw distance for trees is set at less than half way for me. As for the textures, this part is true. You may remember from Morrowind occasionaly the game would freeze for a second to load the next area, well its still here with Oblivion except the load times arent even noticable, most of the time you wont even know unless you see the 'loading' text. Areas that arent 'loaded' yet will have very muddy textures, which can ruin the immersion somewhat, but it isnt a big deal.

I'd have to say that I've hated every Elder Scrolls game to date.

I dunno what it is about Elder Scrolls that I just don't like. The game just feels really dull to me and fails to bring me into it's world. To me, the game is almost like a Single Player MMO w/o the other ppl... and just the stupid quests.

Not to mention: In Morrowind. I didn't like the whole UI Bug where the char would move 3 spaces but only take 2 steps in 3rd person mode. I'm not a big graphix buff, but ffs just fix the bugs. It really took alot of the game out for me. I know that superficial, but it made me feel more like I was playing a game rather than playing a character because I would notice it all the time. That + the many combat UI Bugs of the same type.

As far as single player RPG's go, nothing beats the TES series, and oblivion looks to be as big a step forward as Morrowind was in its day.

I just hope it turns out as good as that did.

An MMO based on hte obliviion quality would be too demanding I'd say. And we all know that the hardest part of making your MMO is not the single player content but balancing the multiplayer content aspects.

I started it last night and it's unbeleivable so far. It's Morrowind refined, absolutely beautiful and completely immersive. If you were in love with Morrowind you are going to want marry this game, so to speak.

I guess I'm in a minority here who feels the series has gone downhill, rather than uphill, over the years...

"Arena" held me like no other RPG ever has, Daggerfall was good, but didn't keep me as rooted tot he game as Arena did, and Morrowind I just couldn't get into at all for some reason. :( I have high hopes for Oblivion though, seems like they may have fixed some things I didn't like about Morrowind, even if I can't put a finger on exactly what they were... Just gonna wait a week or two to see what other people say about it prolly...

2 days in and I could not be happier about this game.  You gotta buy it

My friend was in the same boat as some of you people, didn't even care about the single player aspect to even read up about it.  A week or two later I compiled a big list of quotes about the AI, and game features, sent it to him, attached some great screenies, and he immediatly went OMG that sounds awesome, what game is that.  After he found out it was the single player one he was making fun of 2 weeks ago, he went oh, is it out yet?

This game seriously sounds amazing, and I bet its 20x better then it sounds.  Unfortunatly i have to wait for my birthday in 2 weeks :(
