Carbine Studios recently solicited feedback from the community regarding race / class combinations. This past Friday the team announced several new choices for WildStar players.

But then, in every game there is this vocal group that is not satisfied until you can chose the tiniest race to be juggernauts, just for the fun or absurdity of it. It then becomes the no1 choice for that class and while the servers drown in that combo, everybody thinks he is funny and original.
So i'm not surprised that some folks called for Chua warriors from day one.
You can argue that it's "all fantasy" and that, but i would have rather had Chua stalkers instead.
People who play wildstar (the people in game now) like the combat.
It's no different than say smite or any other cone based telegraph style game.
Saying Wildstar has bad combat is like saying TSW has great combat.
I really don't think those that claim shitty combat ever really played. Or if they did it was through the Gamblers Ruin or The Destiny and they log out cuz the "Cartoonz".
It's the same line of complaints for "lack of content" posts I see about Wildstar. Most who play know that's never a problem. It floods you with content constantly.
Point is: It's actually good game with a mature face being portrayed as a cartoon experience.
Pretty much "Wow did it" type of stuff.
Then why are they introducing Aurin Engineers? Not only do they use tech but they have little robots to help them out.
But they made a major blunder: thinking hardcore mixes with busy combat. it doesn't.
"Hardcore" isn't a "skill" thing, its a time commitment. Twitchy combat works against that. Having to constantly pay attention to crap on the ground and moving about is annoying for long play sessions.
Actiony/twitchy combat works best for games designed to be played in shorter bursts-which is the exact opposite of a hardcore MMORPG. On top of that, the combat isnt even good. Its uninteresting and undoes the world building that they did well initially by being the least immersive combat ever.
Now, if there was a racial talent wheel like the class wheel, and picking a race was an important decision with a significant game impact, yeah, its a big deal what race can be what class.
But even if it had an extremely low impact system like LotRO or WoW's old racials, it a very low impact decision. When there is literally zero impact for picking a race I see no reason to waste resources on adding races, or additional animations for current fluff races.
Instead of new lateral content and fluff like race/class combos, I would love to see this game get an expansion with new classes and levels. Or add new systems with character building options like AO did with alien invasion, etc.
As I'm sure many WS fans would like an expansion. I really don't think that's in the works atm intill they can secure a larger income base. The amount of layoffs don't help either. The only way there will be an expansion imho is if the Publisher decides to give one last attempt to grab the market or the game does a lot better from the steam release. I think time will tell. I don't play, but for those who enjoy the game. I do hope it works out for you.
see- i was with yah until this.
ive played through to GA/DS. my issue with their lack of content is the story to this game or lack there of presence of main characters and story goal.= there isnt one.
even with the care taker being the main narrator to a story there isnt any focus.- (all this aside iam not speaking of pappys web content.) in game theres lack a focus with an objective goal. even with duresa- it felt incomplete. still does. in my opinion its clear to see that the story narrative or goal was abandoned when they had to focus on fixing the game for better revenue. hopefully when all dust clears = they can focus back to a main story for the game.
