We just passed the £1000 mark. Thank you so much Exiles. It is wonderful to know that people will want to play this game and be a part of it from such an early part of its development.

I hope the game will be a success. The graphics brings back nostalgic memories of Anarchy Online.

Be prepared fore DX11 and the renderer upgrade. Also we have not yet even touched shaders and lighting to any real degree :)

What makes you say that. Perhaps i can assuage any doubts you have about the engine.

Not bad! The footage definitely has an Anarchy Online feel with textures resembling Borderlands (IMO).

Prometheus2015  Will the world be on-rails or can you freely explore the world? To elaborate on my question: Can you jump off that bridge (or falling through that open spot in the middle) or are there invisible walls every where preventing you from straying off course or falling to your death if you're not careful?

We have swapped out the intro video with a much higher quality version. Turns out the video codec we used to encode it first time around sucked and wouldnt show the true 60fps frame rate that it should have.

We think the quality is massively improved over what it was originally.

Yes the world will be fully free to explore. It is a sandbox environment so will be as open as possible as an actual city would be. You can jump off the bridge in the video but will die due to electrification or just plain getting run over by the monorail trains hah.

Will there be traffic and people populating the city? One of the great things I love about games is for the world to feel as if it is lived in. Like Assassin's Creed does with people walking the streets or GTA  having traffic all over and people doing things in the world.
I hope they don't do the same mistake that EQ2 did with Guild Halls. Everyone would hangout in their Guild Halls making the cities a waste land.

For sure. There will be casual NPC traffic both on foot and in vehicular form.

It does seem that most games with similar systems to either guild halls or garrisons have ghost towns after that. I myself usually just sit in my garrison on wow (when i was playing it that is).

Players ask for convenience, but giving that at the cost of destroying the whole point of an MMO is a bad idea.

We have created a development roadmap page on Trello. This allows everyone to see what we have already created, what we are working on and what we have still to do in our current phase.

Have a gander. Any questions feel free to ask :)

Really looks terrible. My apologies for my rudeness here. But I have to be honest.

You cannot reassure me about anything regarding Hero Engine. Not after the developer of the engine (IdeaFabrik) shut down operations for a few months at the end of 2015 because they "temporarily ran out of money".

The flagship product on the Hero Engine was "The Repopulation", but after 2015's year-end shenanigans, they've abandoned Hero Engine and switched to Unreal. IdeaFabrik were banking on Repop launching in 2016 and becoming their first proper source of revenue.

Unless IdeaFabrik start making decent money soon (no idea how that's going to happen), the future of Hero Engine is EXTREMELY uncertain...

Incorrect. The engine did not shut down even temporarily. We have had 0 downtime (only for scheduled patch maintenance) since signing up with the engine in 2013.

I thought SWTOR was the flagship product on the Hero Engine?
Not forgetting ESO (even though they denied it initially).

The engine can handle whatever is thrown at it. It just depends on the imagination of the development team to design nice gameplay that is not just a rehash of everything else on the market today.

I know SWTOR had its problems, i can say that given what i know about the engine having worked in it for several years, most if not all of the issues were not because of Hero.

We have had a huge area filled with about 400 moving NPC's, hundreds of static models, hundreds of textures and thousands of draw calls and have seen virtually no performance drop.

The city area we have set up does not have a single LOD and the entire zone can be rendered in full (which wouldnt usually be the case due to objects not being rendered when they are not in view) The FPS does not drop a single 1 from the maximum with everything showing. Infact we have to work very hard to make the game start to go down from 135fps.

    Getting ready for Eurogamer 2016.

While we will not be in a state ready to have a public stall set up demoing the game, we will still be there and will be able to meet other developers and gamers.

Let us know if you are attending this year and we can all meet up and have a little Q&A.

Our first Kickstarter has just ended unsuccessfully with a total of £3,026 pledged.

This was forecast from quite early on, but even though it was a failure in terms of securing the funds we were looking for, the extreme volume of PR and word spreading we achieved made it well worthwhile alone, with various articles and entries on gaming websites here and there.

We have gotten a lot of feedback regarding the game, most of it very positive and constructive. From this, we have been able to come to a few major conclusions as to why we were unsuccessful this time around.

Needless to say we will be taking that feedback aboard and will action the points bought up so they are sorted out as a matter of urgency in our current development phase.

The things we will be concentrating on most, from the above mentioned feedback will be -

    - Gameplay content such as mission and npc systems
    - Character enhancements
    - Lighting and shading work

Thank you to everyone that pledged and to all of those that helped us spread the word about the campaign. Development will continue unabated so stay tuned for updates in the coming months.
