Finally cancelled

I thought this game was so great for about 2 months. I played it every day, and had fun doing it. What finally got to me was the very childish community (people standing in Ironforge asking "can i have free gold plz?"), and the game really didnt have any depth to it. This game is really for the casual gamer and I'm more of a grinding type guy if you know what I mean. This game is so simple, thats why it attarcted so many young people. I know ten year olds who play it. I'd rather not be playing with  people so young. This game is perfect for kids, and adults who have very little time, but for hardcore gamers, it really gets boring.

You proclaim to be a hardcore gamer, yet you still purchased WoW? No offense, but I think even the '10 year olds' could've told you WoW was a casual game.

It really is true! I like many band music but Outkast can now offically be the band of the 2006! So who is anyone else listening with in these times of musical wars? Did anyone be with concert over the last month. My favourite instruments can be called drum and voices. Tell us and you then me if you love Outkast.

    Alas-

Umm what exactly did you expect? You ground for 2 months and didn't do the math on the level progression rate? Thought it was gonna throw a hardball on ya at level 50 or something?

Casual game? Raids take such a long stretch of time to do only a devoted sunlight hateing gamer could do them....

The end game raids are hardly for the casual gamer. But the game was and I would have found that appealing. However, the influx of beggers and gold farmers is what started to ruin it for me as well. WoW has excellent breadth of content in terms of the size of the world. But, they don't have depth of content. It's fetch and grab, fetch bigger things and grab bigger things, etc. ad nauseum. Whatever race you play the quests may reveal a different storyline, but they are basically the same. I can't knock the game too much, I played it since it had first came out but about 4 months ago my interest waned heavily. Perhaps after a few diversions I'll pick it back up again. I have to agree, the game will get to bore you after awhile. The kiddies kind of cinched it for me too.

Hey man, Have you even TRIED to do MC or BWL? Those things take HOURS to finish. But after you get all that gear from doing them for months, your only choice is to kick some ass in PvP. If you really like pvp, you should strive to get high ranks. You REALLY have to be devoted to get to the top few pvp ranks. Idk about you but WoW has things there for hardcore players but if they don't have what you're lookin for, well, i don't really know what you want.

They recently opened AQ up. I heard this instance is DAMN HARD.

2 months to get to max level is not a bad thing despite everything the other say.

What could be bad would be if there was nothing to do past that level cap.  What is worser is when they put another activity and try to enforce it on you (raiding and PvP trash...now Raiding and PvP are nice activities, but when they are enforced as END GAME, they are trash).

Anyway, WoW is the best tutorial out there, I am glad you enjoy it for 2 months.  You obviously doesn't care for their raiding/PvP trash, like the overwhelming majority, maybe you should focus on the fact raiding/PvP are unacceptable as END GAME for someone who solo/group PvE for 2 months.

The bad news is that only 1 MMO is remotedly nice on this topic, it is CoV/CoH and for some reasons, the future doesn't look bright with maybe a few exceptions, yet who can say without a doubt that Hero Journey is going to be nice if you don't raid/PvP?

I love this casual game crap you people keep spouting off about when you talk about WOW.. Please tell me what is so casual about it. You dont have to like or play the game anymore (like me) but you dont have to lie either....

I agree with the childish commuity, however you people fail to realize as most of us have done that the Bnet kiddies were going to come over to WOW.. Its not that the game attrated kids to it, the kids where there(Bnet) long before you. Those of you that have ever been on Bnet know exactly what im talking about.

Lol, how is WoW not a casual game?

Even if you consider the epic 40-man raids, Blizzard designed those instances for a 1 week period. Some players choose to do those raids in one evening; they're not forced to.

This essentially is for clarity.  I would have to say WoW is both or can be both.

    ca·su·al
    Function: adjective
b : engaging in an activity on an occasional basis

    hard-core also hard·core
    adj.

    1. Intensely loyal; die-hard: a hard-core secessionist; a hard-core golfer.

    2. Stubbornly resistant to improvement or change: hard-core poverty.

If you want a hardcore game that is stubbornly resistant to improvement or change, play L2.

One of the things I found is that there are many people whose idea of 'play' is hanging around doing just that. They will spend a small amount of time playing (since it's so easy to level) and then spend the rest of the time 'hanging out'.

There is nothing in WoW that provides an actual incentive to play. A person could do very little leveling at all and then just hang out inthe major towns being a pest. Nothing anyone can do about that.

Congratulations!  I think you could of found this out by reading some forums though instead of sinking 2 months into it.  WoW is the easiest game on the planet...

you probably have never passed level 10 you noob. don't talk about the game if you don't know sh*t about it. at least do some research before you speak.

I do agree with what he says about chilren, though... just spend 10 minutes in the Stranglethorn Vale general chat and see if you can't rip your eyes out. But the whole game is definitely not like that, not even in the slightest; most of the people you meet are not going to be that young. Heck, the people in my friends list are either in college (like me), or already working. Maybe its just a bad server choice?

HAhaha, yeah cause you know it takes 2 months to get to level 10::::18::

Getting to level 60 is a weeks worth of experican for any hardcore gamer. So don't be calling him a nub. I got to 60 TAKING my time in the first month I got the game. Then after that it was so easy to just get a character to 60 in less time... A lot less time.

And the second month I've experianced the whole game.::::28:: You must be very slow if you can't figure out everything in 2 months of this game.

So I don't know much about KingdomHearts 2... So I shouldn't even talk about it then? Thats very flawed logic right there buddy. If nobody talked about things they didn't know, we'd still be in the darkages. GG on that one right there. But you seem to be the one to take what you said to heart and very obviously don't know that talking about things (Aka communication with other people) is the best way to learn.

    lol i knoooooooooooow

theres too many kids playing.. thats y i stopped gw abit :S

Guild Wars + WoW are maaad games but the communities stuff them up

  • DMMDPDMMDP Member Posts: 15

The community can be incredibly childish, that's true. Though, there are a few tricks to "counter" it:

1.) Plays Guild Wars for ~2 weeks. That'll show you what "childish" is, and IF looks like a philospher's meeting by comparison. Think this is a joke? Sadly, it's not, happened to me, too ;)
2.) Join a heavily underpopulated side. Most FOTMers and kiddies leave those, leaving you with a friendly, cheerful and normally helping community. That really does a ton.

And there's also an important third trick:
    Never - ever - roll - a human - male! ;)
