Is there a way to use the hotbar skills with your mouse instead of having to click a number in correspondence with the skill related to the hotbar? I HATE games this way....can't the mouse just be out at all times and camera follow behind the character? If not, these games, make me seriously dizzy super fast....ugghhh......super glad I am on the 7 day free trial if there's not a way around it...

I don't think so, but its actually much easier on your hands/wrists if you can get used to it.

honestly the way the controls/UI is handled in this game is something that hinders me from delving more into it. Not sure in regards to your question, but they do seem to have a lot of menu options so there might be a way around your dilemma. I think the movement and controls are a bit jittery, but perhaps they fixed that since the last time I played. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the game can help you out going forward.

not for me, the moving around like that with the screen gets me so dizzy though, I'd rather be behind my character, and click the hotbar with the mouse.... :( I get super dizzy so fast in like 10 minutes where I have to stop playing....(I am legally blind in my left eye so that doesn't help either) but the spinning around all the time with the motion is unbearable for me, wish both options were present

thanks Graey, I spent the last half an hour to 45 minutes playing in their settings hoping for a "fix" but haven't come up with one yet.....I think it's set that way, seems only option available left is gamepad....

I will however say I was SUPER duper impressed with character customization, I spent over an hour making muh Bitch, ....now if only I could play more than 10 minutes lol :)

Hm I see, sorry to hear that. I have played a bit on one character but I can't put my foot on it but it just felt jittery or too fast in a way. I tried bringing it down but that did not seem to help. I'm sure if I kept at it I could find a solution for it, but it is fine. Well hopefully in your case the gamepad solution will work out for you.

You want to have to hold down the right mouse button all the time?  I dont think I understand your problem.  You want to click abilities on your hotbar with your mouse in an action type game?
  • starstorm777starstorm777 Member UncommonPosts: 114
yes Mardukk, like the World of Warcraft style, click abilities on the hotbar with the mouse while the camera stays behind your character and so you don't have to click the numbers on the keyboard for certain attacks

Unfortunately for you that particular style of play isn't possible, and if it was you would be at a serious disadvantage over doing it the 'BDO way'.  Clicking the hot buttons just isn't fast enough.

starstorm777, it is not possible. The combat is designed to be fast, combo based, and very action oriented. While i also prefer tab target mmos like WoW, BDO has the best action combat in any mmo ive played and with a controller is magical for me since too much mouse usage makes my right hand a bit swollen.

Can't you map the actions to a mouse like the naga or logitech G600 ?

If you are not adverse to it, get a mouse with the number buttons on the side (like a naga or similar mouse)

I use the keystrokes but in a pinch I can hit one of the numbers with my thumb and get an immediate result.

I'm rather surprised nobody has answered you properly on this but yes, you can keybind up to 20 skills. But only the ones that can be dragged and dropped (they should have a border around them in the skill tree). A handful of skills on each class can't be dragged to the hotbar and those you will need to use the default keybinds.

But you can rekeybind the default hotbar in the keybinding menu, and there should be additional hotbar slots there too that you'll want to keybind. You can just drag and drop skills from the skill tree directly onto the hotbar and use them that way. In order to activate the extra slots, there's an option in the game settings for the additional quick bar. Off the top of my head I can't remember where it is since I don't have the game in NA. After you click that, you will be able to drag and drop skills, and items of any kind, onto the game screen basically anwhere you want and it will setup a keybind right there. You'll also see each ability on all of the bars will have an individual menu you can use to move it, fix the keybind, lock it so it doesn't move, etc.

    Example -

Oh you want to physically click the hotbar? I thought you just wanted to use your own keybindings instead of using the preset combos. No you can't do that. Using your own keybindings will help you get used to things though if you don't like the combo style they have. I would recommend trying that, and playing a slower class like Witch if you don't like to move around as quickly as other classes.
