My favorite for games is anything by Magnus Birgersson aka Solar Fields.

For me depends upon the game.  For most of the games I play though, I put together my own mix of music.  Honestly if I find myself playing a game with music playing in the background.  I have either played the game too long and know the music and can hear it in my head or the music/ambiance doesn't capture me.

    Movements is an excellent album.

If you appreciate this style I also recommend Aes Dana: Memory Shell and Leylines are two personal favorites.

LOL, knew what crap would be in this thread before I even opened it.  It's always the same on any MMO forum when this kind of thread is made... Rock, metal & death metal. Christ.  Bet the majority of you think of yourselves as "non conformists" as well, haha, the irony in that.

Well, I have been known to play Blind guardian when I play, they do have some medieval sounding songs (like "Bards tale"), a lot of medium hard songs (the entire "Imagination from the other side" is good for regular gaming) and some harder songs for PvP.

Powerwolf is also pretty nice to play to when I do PvE content, and Sabbaton & Civil war are good for PvP.

I have never found my own music to ad to the games I play, MMO or otherwise. Most of the time it even distracts, music is no background filler for me but an experience of its own deserving proper attention.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I like most music except for rap and modern day music.  Rap is to much like talking and modern day music lacks energy similar to today's MMOs.  It's like they were are made by robots.  Even classical music and music from the 40s, 50s, and 60s has more energy and feelings.

Mr. Meeble - Nostalgic for Now EP

This EP generated a bit of press when it released, but I'm not sure what this group is up to these days.  That this video from 2012 has only 8k views is almost criminal.  Hesitantly, "space rock", but with something undefinably and unmistakably more.  Think early, quiet Nine Inch Nails meets The Shins with some anonymous folk band acting as intermediary.

I think Dead Can Dance also provides a suitable medieval atmosphere..

wish more games offered as good background music as they do.

I had fun once, it was terrible.
