The concept the are aiming for isn't bad but yeh , game needs allot of work to get there.
Issues for me, being a UI DESIGNER for games, I can tell they do not understand UI , because most they do not just copy old designs, which people do get tired of, and dated...I know its early, and they normally do later anyways, but from what I have seen from many indies which I llove to support, many do not hire true UI designers, they just keep the old design, since they do not have a clue how to make something new and refreshing. They would help make there game stand out..
My advice is to design combat, , world, UI stuff like this and shows some new refreshing designs, to get people's attention... Indie have more room to do this then AAA.
As development proceeds, our original placeholder art work that we created will be replaced with newer designs. The current GUI was created as the programmers needed something to use other than the white boxes that came with the engine. It is functional if not amazingly pretty.
So I don't mind the slightly trashy looks.
Will keep an eye on this one.
I saw a fairly small youtuber do a kickstarter for an infrared camera not long ago, 10k or so. He got it, people have way too much money to throw around.
We are directly concentrating on game systems and content over graphics at the moment. Which is why the game looks a bit like ass.
No point in having a pretty environment if you cant move or shoot or interact with other players in any way. Once Kickstarter is out of the way, we will be doing shader, lighting and character model work to make it look prettier.
Added to that the engine is about to undergo a full makeover with a whole new up to date renderer and DX11. When i see people complain about graphics in a pre alpha video game that is at least 6 months away from being put into the publics hands, i take those comments with a grain of salt. Yes there is a ton of room for improvement, but there is also a ton of time to get those upgrades done
One of the top reasons to avoid this project like the plague.
I lol'd at the first comment about the possibility of being sued because we use the word cyberpunk to describe our game. It is like saying we will be sued for saying our game is also scifi.
I agreed with Dakeru's post about cutting graphics when starting out on development because as i stated in one of my posts "We are directly concentrating on game systems and content over graphics at the moment. Which is why the game looks a bit like ass. "
I awesomed Ramajama's post because he made a good point about Darkcrystal giving critique without pointing out what he thinks is wrong with the GUI.
Where did you read about cyberpunk being trademarked out of curiosity?
In any case we use the word as you say, to describe the sub genre of our game. Not in the actual title of our game. There are a vast variety of products that describe themselves as cyberpunk. Even more as time goes on.
We think the quality is massively improved over what it was originally.

If you get the game out and it can do half of what you aim to do.... Then i might give it a try.
This have been a good conversation
Would just take 1 big game company fighting this supposed ownership of the word to brush it aside.
Deus Ex is going to get in trouble for describing itself as a cyberpunk game? I always take this kind of thing with a pinch of salt. Cyberpunk is a genre not a name.
We have done minimal groundwork lighting in most cases as we have been concentrating on other areas. It is upcoming on our schedule though for sure. Shaders and light work will make things look a lot more pretty for sure
You are seeing the number on kickstarter in dollars. The project is actually in GBP so shows an odd number.
There is a section on the campaign that details what we will use the funds for.
While we will not be in a state ready to have a public stall set up demoing the game, we will still be there and will be able to meet other developers and gamers.
Let us know if you are attending this year and we can all meet up and have a little Q&A.
I like stylized graphics. Duskers, WoW, Borderlands, Elsword, Tree of Savior, etc. But they have to be well done, and these... well, aren't.
Best of luck to you, but I don't see you finishing this with $43K from a graphics standpoint alone. Style and technical issues aside, everything just looks very, very bland, boring, and uninspired.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.
