Finally a game where the beta isn't a waste of time!
I always enjoyed the first few months of a game because everybody is building strength, so this is going to be awesome and worth playing.
And when things settle down during the beta, the game will be released and we can start a different experience.

I love the launch plan.

Clan rewards:
  • Existing clans will be created for free at release, with all members already within and with all positive diplomatic relationships retained.
  • Holdings owned at the end of InDev will be kept, but razed to the ground at the exception of the bank.
  • Clan members will have the option to select a clan holding as a starting city.

Count me in, seems they have improved their vision and tweak the roadmap and now is really seems a true living world not just the old meaningless pvp arena. Good job Ub3rgames.

so basically its "get in on beta, or start the game gimped and with all the best spots already taken".

and what about all the security issues they have admitted to still having?  so people are now forced to fight for their spot in a buggy "beta stage" game, with documented hack-able weakness that the devs have admitted to not knowing how to fix? does this sound like a good thing to anyone?

I guess they feel its a little incentive to get people testing and considering all the best spots are taken a matter of days after launch anyways, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

I'm not a huge fan of the idea, but I realize that the success of this game will depend heavily on the InDev testing phase. Seeing as how claiming keeps is only relevant for a matter of days, its probably the incentive with the smallest long term impact. After the first week, people can just work to take over a spot if they want it, just like everyone else will forever after.
