A game art design student has landed a dream job creating graphics for the $100 million video game blockbuster, Star Citizen.

Joel Phelps, 22, who studies at De Montfort University, has been offered a job by Cloud Imperium Games, which is behind the eagerly-awaited space exploration simulator. [source]

Cloud Imperium Games is still looking for 50 more people to join them in creating the game.

Reminds me of Peter Jackson grabbing some of the best and brighest talents right from the movie academies worldwide (including some very good german speaking CGI artists) to create the "Lord of the Rings" movies. They may not have had a lot of previous industry experience, but at the project they learned from the best and became some of the best. They still keep in touch with their old team-mates.

Probably because they will pay him dirt, unfortunately. He's probably got skills, but as a student with no work history (usually the case for a student this young) they can get him with a really low starting salary. Kudos to the student for his first job! Always a great feeling.

TBH I am not sure why this is a news article. IF a middle school kids gets a paper route, do they cover that as well?

Its a news article because the student won a competition and CIG was the first to take notice and make him an offer.

Sooooooooooooooo, you're admitting it's irrelevant! Lol

Sorry if you didn't pick it up, the sarcasm was implied.

I am used to cite sources in scientific articles. As author. As reviewer.

That source  is usually another scientific article from a peer reviewed journal. But sometimes its a personal communication from someone you worked with or talked to at a conference. So you cite it as "personal communication".

Which does not make the information irrelevant - often this is some of the newest and most interesting information in a specific field (too new to have passed through the slow moving peer review process).

I know what you meant with that sarcasm and why you said "Link please!" .... but for me it comes natural to name a source as accurately as possible when asked about it ( while - of course - taking into account here the general conditions of an anonymous internet forum).

Sarcasm or not ... you asked a question and deserved an answer. In my personal opinion most of the posters here (including you) deserve answers to their questions - although there are some rare few that IMHO deserve nothing (based on their previous behaviour).
