Finally a TRUE RPG

Well finally someone had the brains to create an amazing mmorpg. To the creator (or creators) of The Saga of Ryzom I would like to personally bow down and worship them. The RPG they have created is like no other. Anyone who is a visitor to the site can obviously tell how much effort was put forth into the creation of a true mmorpg masterpiece. When I first went there I was expecting another ordinary RPG with no character. What I found was a new innovative game with unique aspects and a world built on extreme determination to give the player the feeling that they are there. I was floored by the impressive detail in both the game and the storyline. This game is still in BETA and it has a full story and 4 races that each have an incredible amount of detail about the race itself and about which jobs are available to each race. I am also VERY VERY PLEASED when I noticed that the races were that of which i had never heard of before. These races are new to the mmorpg world. This means theres no retarded humans, elfs, dwarfs, orcs, or ogres to make this a typical run of the mill game. Indeed these races also have names that appeal to the gamers mind and they don't sound frivilous or too silly. BETA testing for this game is still open, and I HIGHLY suggest to anyone who wants to leave behind the world of games that are the same thing over and over, you need to sign up for BETA IMMEDIATELY!  This game is AMAZING!

I completely agree with you on this point.

Ryzom is the only  mmorpg that I am currently looking forward too.  All of the other ones look very generic.  This one has some real potential.

  • I agree with ya there totally image

err. I hate to be the critic but Zorai look like a rip off from the Zora in Legen of Zelda (whom the desginerd probably ripped off someone else).

But overall I have to agree it is a nice looking project.

I don't know about RoT, I'll have to review it, but I remember thinking when I looked at their site that the pseudonym said it all.  As for TSoR, hey, check out my avatar, I've already picked my race.  I'm chomping at the bit to play this game.  Nothing else really interests me at the moment, just because I can only afford to play one game at a time.  (not playing anything right now because I'm about as poor as an Enron investor)

I do not know, man.  Have you tried Horizons?  That is some kick booty role playing...especially if you like dragons.  There are so many options, that you certainly do not get bored...
But I am looking forward to Ultima X: Odyssey most of all...role playing, IMHO, is only as good as the communication interface that facilitates the game.  UX:O, from all of the August 2003 reviews and recent leaks.  The looting chests are kinda cool too...

Horizons looks ok but i dunno anymore alot of mmorpgs are mainly based on graphics i want somthing with a ton of detail game play wise and somthing that can create a REAL LIVING enviroment to keep me hooked.  I quit EQ because it sucked took me 2 hours in game play to just start having fun

then only game that i have played so far that was a good game to keep me interested was Asherons Call 2 but i quit it cause it lost alot of players and am currenlty looking for a website to buy Asherons Call Dark Majesty. Most people have told me Amazon.com but that is a load of BS wal-mart k-mart and 100's of other sites dont even aknowledge than game anymore :(

If you run across a site where they have AC1 Darkmajesty pls pls pls e-mail me or reply to this messgae

my e-mail address is gren8de@msn.com thx you

Hey, I do not know Asherons Call Dark Majesty...but you can try BestBuy or EB.  But if you are looking for a real strategy game i.e. quests, guilds as well as graphics, that is not a pony show game, I would suggest waiting for Ultima X: O...coming out in Feb of this year.  The role playing is only as good as the communication interface...and from what I have been reading from Calandryll, the developer, this one will be the most sophisticated to date...imho...I would rather wait for one great one than be bored with the next best thing.  image

Hey Osc-  you can find more UX: O game specs at the source (http://uxoo.com/features.php)  The virtue, questing and new race info is pretty good.  I am especially checking out the guilding specs...fyi--I know that the omition of housing is a bummer with UX:O, but I think this will foster more guilding, which is a major positive for the game (ability to participate in rated guild PvP battles, semi-private guild interfacing: messaging, posting, and ability to recruit, manage, delegate and organize the guild= bonus imho.) And you do not need a guildstone to start one. I don't know about the crafting bit so much...I think crafting may be available to those who achieve certain virtues...I will try and find out.
Additionally, guild battles can occur in private realms, so it makes it impossible for outsiders to interfere with the battles.
    Food for thought.   se ya

I have narrowed down my interest to 4 mmorpgs in development/beta, and this is one of them.  The newer games coming out are finally putting more development into the crafting/tradeskills, rather than just hack-n-slash.  I don't like to take part in combat.  I am a support type person, one who likes to provide assistance by supplying food or clothes or tools.

(for those interested - the other games I am watching are Realms of Torment, Adellion, and Tales of the Unwritten [yet to be added to the game list!])

It will always be hard to fullfill all the people out there for there needs on an mmorpg.  Thats why there are alot of different styles and games.  If one doesn't make you happy, find another that does.

Whatever one chooses, the choice is theirs, happy gaming.

Sorry Osc, but it appears that no one stocks the game at all anymore. Apparently, it isn't available. The best chance you have of finding it would probably be ebay.com- Check it out. I found lots of results, but some of the copies seem to be fetching a high price. If you want to buy it there, watch out for scammers...image

Does Ryzom have PvP? And if so, what is the extent? I couldn't find anything on the website. Thanks.
