High level timed pve dungeon, notice the player cycle through pets for their buffs. The standard and action mode combat choices, it's a first generation attempt at it, plus taming without the soft lock on proved to be difficult, from what I understand, so they had to have a lock on during action.

Simply an excellent video. His impressions sum up exactly how I felt about this game after seeing the first trailer. Thank God I don't have to commit anymore thought to the matter. Put a spade in this pile of dirt: SHE'S IN THE GROUND.

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

    Best HiveLeader video yet.
Well, the competition in that bracket is tight, there are a lot of awesome HL vids, but just re-watched the favourites and yep, it is among the best 5 ones easily

And yet again another preview that misses the part about the mounted pvp combat

    That looks really awful.

Yea. it looks like just a bunch of guys levitating there against a sky background with the player's mount constantly appearing and reappearing underneath him.

Shouldn't air combat be more... dynamic or something?   Like dogfighting with people chasing down others and team members screaming "Cover me!" and "Do a barrel roll!" and such.  Instead of everyone just... holding still (well, sluggishly moving a little, in some cases)

I'm reading everyone's post and impressed that you're all shocked on how crappy the game looks ... I mean, it is Nexon we're talking about here, one of the biggest cash grabbing companies out there, almost at the same level as EA. And can we please get rid of the OVER 9000! skill bar spamming, it's so WoW'ish and child'ish. It used to be fun but that was 12 years ago, time to move on or don't release anything.

This is exactly how i felt about riders of icarus. Its not a bad game...but its incredibly generic. Theres no reason this should of come out in 2016. It would of been a fun game 5 or 6 years ago, but it has no place in the current mmo market.
  • ShinamiShinami Member UncommonPosts: 825
I was going to subscribe to it and then saw that it was Nexon and I was like "hell no..." because I learned that no matter how good or bad a game is...just having the game ran by Nexon is enough to feel my wallet screaming for dear life...

Who publishes and maintains the game is more important than the game itself...

Tell me what game has that for any mount? I'll agree the video quality is poor, but how is the cryengine graphics at fault. You can seamlessly get off and on a mount. Switching mounts mid air is not hard. I am willing to be none of the people reviewing the game got past the tutorial stage of the game. No mention of the dungeons, no mention of the Vulkanus taming instance, the first open world pvp zone doesn't open up until level 30, no mention of pet buffs and how they function, no mention of how leveling armor and weapons works, no mention on how the talent skills work. Why take any criticism that is coming from an uninformed source?

I assume the purpose of that video was to impress, was it not?  Whether or not it's the cryengine's fault, and whether or not you can get seamlessly on and off a mount, I did not find that video impressive and neither did the other poster.  I don't see why anyone else would either, in all honesty.

Whether or not an MMORPG "has that for any mount" is not the issue here.  The issue here is "Does this video of Riders of Icarus' mounted combat make me want to play the game?"  or "Does this video of Riders of Icarus make me or Hiveleader or anyone say 'Wow!' to make up for the fact that the rest of the game does not?" and in this case, at least for me, the answer is "Nope", and I gave my reasons why I felt that way about it.

The purpose of the video was to inform not to impress, considering the lack of information from this preview hasn't gone any further than the very first zone. There were a lot of things not covered in this preview that should of been, which makes for an uninformed critique, kind of like what Fox news does.

A more clearer video of the flight mechanics, both flying and gliding.

At the end of the day, I personally don't care if a review is complete so much as whether or not the review is spot on regarding if the game is fun or fresh or worth playing or whatever else.  That the review omitted the flying mounted combat only matters to me if the flying mounted combat was fresh or exciting enough to make the game worth playing despite the other aspects as pointed out in the review.  In this case, it doesn't seem to make any difference (at least ofr me) because the flying mounted combat, even in that new vid, really looks like more of the same except a graphically different theme, for the most part.

("for the most part", because I do have to admit that it does sometimes look pretty at least in that new video.  Prettiness by itself tends to wear off after a while though, I've found)
