If they do this, I will come back.
If? They confirmed it's coming in the fall.

I'm so glad this finally happened after all this time. I requested this feature in Beta when they were pc only! I'm glad it's finally happening!

I wonder how well this will do in Japan..

Probably not very, which is why they are just now doing it.

Japan is only interested in high fantasy if it's anime style and there's tits and bloody noses everywhere.

I think it will be a good move.  Allow more socializing and playing together, open the world up, etc.  This is something I've seen as a wish from many players since game launch.

My only concern is tying together the main storyline in a coherent way.  The Caldwell's Gold/Silver quest did lead you in a general direction and tied the zones together in a logical way.  There may have to be some tweaking of this but I don't see it as a huge challenge.  There also needs to be a sense of character progression.  Although I'm not the best of players, I do like the sense of getting stronger with better gear, champion points, etc.  As long as there are worthy goals to work towards and obtain, I will be happy.

I have great hopes for this game and that is why I continue to pay a subscription (and get my bottomless crafting bag for my hoarding tendencies!!!)/

Yeah that is my thought as well, they seem to prefer a bit more vividness, with less bleakness in their games. ESO has a rather grim feeling a lot of the time.

I don't really think that's true. After all, Dark Souls is a japanese game. So is Dragon's Dogma.

I think they prefer things to have a lot of "style". Western artists (for some reason) seem to be pretty bland (or in some cases bad, in my opinion) as far as their art design.

I don't know their market very well but I do know it's not ALL anime over there... Dragon's Dogma Online for example is pretty dark high fantasy with very much a Western look to it.

Either way I'll be excited to see how it does over there considering its age and the market.

This is already how it is with the DLC. I do agree with Iselin however that if they do away with the 1-50 "experience" and introduce this from the start it will be very hard for new players and even new characters played by experienced players.

Sounds interesting, but if ZOS does not take a harder stance on cheaters, button up the holes that are letting people use cheats like the cheat engine, people will lose even more faith and stop spending money in game that allows cheaters to run rampant and when you perma ban someone they need to stay banned.

I am going to have to see how things play out for some reason my gut is telling me I may not like Tamriel one, but will give it a fair shot before I make up my mind, unless the cheaters have ran me out of the game, before it releases.

They are simply trying to better manage the dwindling pop. Cutting servers is too overt and makes players jump ship faster. By implementing level buff you can make better use of a lesser pop and that makes it seem like you have a bigger pop than you really do.

They have 6 servers, 3 for US and 3 for UK, 2 for PC, 2 for Xbox, 2 for PS4, so... there really is no way to cut down on servers.
