What does the "edition" bring as far as in-game rewards or items?
  • Wartorn[SC]Wartorn[SC] Member Posts: 97

    Dunno...

Just saw that it says that it contains three codes.

I suppose that would be :

    1 beta key
    1 "early Bird" key

and one for the full version.

    The rest I don't know.

Just thought it might be interesting to now that they are going to release a game that not only costs the customer money to buy and then pay per month but also make him pay like $40 more for the CE (or LE) version.....

  • ouch! dunno 'bout this. $100 for a preview and full game? My gawd! sounds like DNL!!!! disappointing.

Why do people like you always jump to conclussions? You don't even know if that is the price, or if it is, what's in the box. Sigil hasn't even announced ANY pricing information. Chill. Wait. Stop complainning about something that hasn't even happened.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

Sigil hasn't announced a release date for Vanguard, other than saying it'll be sometime in 2006

If I can find the thread where one of the devs responded to the same concern over on the Vanguard forums, I'll link it.  Basically though, places like Gamestop don't have any *insider* information.  They commonly put up a release date on products to generate interest and pre-sales when they can.

Well nobody really knows atm - not even the devs. ...image

I guess we will have to wait - as far as the amount of the CE or LE edition is concerned:
if GameStop puts up that price for a pre-order they have to have some sort of information on it.
I've yet to hear that an supplier had charged the wrong price for a game and then had to pay all pre-customers back.

$100 for a game is toooo much!

It's 100 bucks for 3 game keys though. And I would pay 100 bucks just for Vanguard and a poster with some Keith Parkinson artwork on it. I think the price is relative to how much money you have.

Economics101, price is relative to how much it's worth or people are prepared to pay. The collectors edition is only worth getting to fleece other people on eBay.

    No annoying animated GIF here!

    Yep - ECO 101

I guess most of us will want to get the LE edition so that we cans start playing before others do.

So we will pay the $100 - eventhough it hurts.

What you can start playing the game now if you pre-order it???!
  • Wartorn[SC]Wartorn[SC] Member Posts: 97

No - but I bet the box contains an open beta key...

and that way you get to play before others... image

But this is all guessing atm since nobody really knows what will be included in the box.

Bah the whole thing sounds like a bad idea, I know even knowing they didnt say a clear price on the item its still going to be 100$ or in the ballpark. They did it with EverQuest 2 same thing, the LE is just a way to boost revenue, off of crusty geeks that just simply cannot wait to play this game, hell i'm sure that if they marked the game up to 400$ for the LE people would STILL buy it.

I know I will be buying the LE, even if it is 100$ cause im a crusty geek, and I been waiting far too long to play the full version of this game, and if 100$ gets me beta, open beta, then some cool ingame items, i'm all over it.

Good lord.  How many more fantasy based games can be churned out anyway?

  • DroiganDroigan Member Posts: 59

I don't know. How many FPS games can they make? How many horror games?

They'll keep being made until the market is saturated. It isn't.

And Vanguard has been in development for 4 years now. Not exactly a game that is jumping on a bandwagon either.

As to release date. Not going to come until late Q4 2006 at earliest I fear.

As many as they need to "churn out" to make a good one!

Wouldn't trust any info re: release dates or special editions and what they might hold.  Too early for any official announcements -- all else is speculation.

That's because they don't charge you until they ship the game to you, which would be after the final correct price had been determined.

I still say it's pretty damn impressive that the CEO himself peruses our board and posts from time to time.

That's a man in touch with his potential players, far as I am concerned.

Well its like we said before - even an "official" doesn't know when its going to be done.

Guess we will continue waiting - nothing we can do anyway. Up to you guys to surprise us.
Well at least we know that you care about the community.

    Thumbs up!!
