Take-Two Interactive, 2K and Firaxis have announced a deal with GlassLab, a non-profit company that seeks to bring "high-impact games to make learning visible, to bring Sid Meier's Civilization V to high schools in North America beginning in 2017. Retagged "CivilizationEDU', the history-inspired strategy title will give students a chance to use critical thinking skills to recreate historical events as well as assess the impact of decisions on social, economic and geopolitical segments of societies.

    As a former teacher, I highly approve. This is the digital generation and bringing their passion into a learning environment and utilizing gaming that's been proven to potentially enhance and expand critical thinking is a win-win. Add in classic learning strategies with tons of beneficial and pertinent reading activities and kids will bloom.

    It's about time!  So many times I remember in school being shown "educational" videos I hardly paid attention to.

    Video games require active, rather than passive, attention.  I believe that's supported by studies as a more efficient learning situation (I'm too lazy to look it up, though).
