In what market do you belong?

There are all kinds of markets companies we've seen are targeting and Blizzard is the most recent and best example. They go after every possible market like RTS (Star Craft), Diablo 3 (ARPG), Heroes of the Storm (MOBA), Hearthstone (Card game), Overwatch (FPS) and of course WOW (MMO) as well as the big cinema movie market (Warcraft). They probably even have some mobile game too or in the making as well as single player game.

They are literally spread over every possible market they can get their hands on, chasing as many of the potential audience, because they believe mass production and quantity increased the chance some of the vast audience they are targeting to open their wallet. They heavily invest in marketing, anyways for players like me this strategy has been successful when I too bought Star Craft 2 on release. It was a stupid thing and I regret it cuz I spent $70+ CAD with taxes for a game I played for 2 weeks or less, and that was the last new product I ever bought from Blizzard.

As a gamer its in my interest to have less but better options for the best experience possible since I can only play one product at a time. So, based on your last and most recent purchases on new products in the market, in what market category or categories do you belong even outside of gaming?

Me, from 2015 up to now I only belong in the dental market, since I went once and I got robbed for $160-180. I floss hardcore because for that kind of $ I could've subbed for a year for a quality MMO.

Why would we be interested in discussing markets outside of gaming?  In the MMO-specific subforum at that?  Maybe you should try this thread again with an actual list of markets within gaming...
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

Regarding Blizzard and development studios, that's their own business. If they want to diversify and they have the talent to do so then go for it. Its worked for Blizzard (even though I personally dont like any of their games) so why shouldn't they?

Whilst I would prefer for companies to specialise, they do then run the risk of becoming stale where every game feels the same (heres looking at your codemasters!) or becoming so specialised that they lose their audience and collapse.

As for what gaming markets (genres....) I like, its massively diverse, I just like "good" games. My latest purchases have been Total War: Warhammer, SIMS 3 (accidentally broke my vow to not buy any more EA games.....damn you steam summer sale!), MXGP, Dishonoured and Watchdogs. Before that, I was playing Yoshi's Woollen World on WiiU, before that, DOW2.

The only common theme to my purchases is that I couldn't give a shit about stories and I dislike shooters. Beyond that, anything goes really and I judge each game on its own merits.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
